You'll arrive at Bucharest International Airport and get transferred to your hotel. Once you check in, the rest of the day is yours to do what you like - either get out and walk around the city or take it easy before your first night.

Bucharest

Bucharest
You'll have breakfast at your hotel, then you have the option to join a full-day trip to Transylvania. If you go, you'll see Bran Castle (the Dracula connection), the medieval town of Brasov, and Peles Castle to get a feel for the region's history and landscape. Later you'll head back to Bucharest for another night.

Bucharest - Veliko Tarnovo - Sofia
After breakfast, you'll transfer to Sofia with a lunch stop in Veliko Tarnovo, Bulgaria's old capital. When you arrive in Sofia, you'll check in at your hotel and have the evening free to check out the city on your own.

Sofia - Skopje
Breakfast comes first, then a guided tour takes you through Sofia's cultural sites: Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, St. Sofia Basilica, the National Art Gallery, and the Presidential Palace. After lunch, you'll travel to Skopje for a comprehensive city tour covering Kale Fortress, Stone Bridge, Macedonia Square, and Mustafa Pasha Mosque. You'll stay overnight in Skopje.

- Day 6
Skopje - Prizren - Tirana
You'll start with breakfast and head to Tirana with stops along the way. There's an optional visit to Matka Canyon if you want to see dramatic landscapes and the lake. From there you'll go to Prizren in Kosovo to see Ottoman buildings, Prizren Castle for views, Sinan Pasha Mosque, the White Drin River, and Sadrvan Square. You can browse local crafts and try traditional food before heading to Tirana to check in for the night.

Tirana - Ohrid
Breakfast at your hotel starts the day, followed by a panoramic tour of Tirana hitting Skanderbeg Square, the Skanderbeg Statue, Et'hem Bey Mosque, and the Clock Tower. Then you'll travel to Ohrid, going through historic sites and handling customs. In Ohrid's Old Town you'll visit Ohrid Port, Quarantine Church, Ancient Via Egnatia, Hagia Sophia Church and Monastery, and Samoil's Fortress. You'll have lake views and spend the night there.

You'll have a Macedonian breakfast in Ohrid and then you've got the full day to spend in the city however you like. If you want, there's an optional half-day trip to Sveti Naum Monastery on Lake Ohrid's shores where you can see the lake's source.

Ohrid - Kastoria - Meteora
After breakfast, you'll cross into Greece and continue to Kastoria, which has Byzantine churches, Ottoman buildings, and a nice lake setting. Once you've explored the town, you'll head toward Meteora and settle in for the night.

Meteora - Thessaloniki
You'll have breakfast and then visit the UNESCO Meteora Monasteries sitting on cliffs with views of the surrounding area. Your guide will meet you at Kalabaka, and from there you'll head to Thessaloniki to see the White Tower and Arch of Galerius. You'll spend the night in Thessaloniki, a city with lots of history and a vibrant atmosphere.

Thessaloniki - Rila Monastery - Sofia
Breakfast at your hotel comes first, then you'll travel to Sofia with a major stop at Rila Monastery in the Rila Mountains. You'll explore Bulgaria's largest Eastern Orthodox monastery and see the intricate frescoes and architecture. From there you'll continue on to Sofia where the tour ends.
