Itinerary

  1. Day 1

    Kathmandu

    You'll arrive at Kathmandu International Airport where agency staff meet you and drive you to your hotel. After getting settled in, the trek leader takes you to a traditional Nepalese restaurant for a welcome dinner with a cultural program. There's also a briefing about the Manaslu trek via Larke La pass so you know what to expect in the coming days.

  2. Day 2

    Kathmandu

    Spend the full day checking out Kathmandu's religious sites. Start at Pashupatinath, one of Lord Shiva's holy shrines, then walk through Boudhanath Stupa where Buddhist monks and prayer wheels create a peaceful atmosphere. After grabbing lunch, head to Swayambhunath Stupa, also called Monkey Temple, for 360-degree views of Kathmandu Valley before returning to your hotel.

  3. Day 3

    Kathmandu to Soti Khola

    Have breakfast early and then spend 8-9 hours driving to Soti Khola on a scenic route. The drive takes you through small towns along the Kathmandu to Pokhara highway, passing through Malekhu after about 70km. From there you'll travel on a dirt road toward Dhading Besi with views of Ganesh Himal and Manaslu Himal. Lunch happens at Malekhu and you'll reach Soti Khola Lodge by evening.

  4. Day 4

    Soti Khola to Machha Khola

    Start trekking after breakfast at the teahouse, crossing a bridge through Sal forests and walking along a ridge above Budhi Gandaki River. The terrain gets steep as you head toward Kyoropani, then you'll descend through rocky ground and past tropical waterfalls to Labubesi Gurung village for lunch. After that comes a steep climb through rocky terrain before you descend to sandy river banks and cross a suspension bridge. The full trek takes 6-7 hours, ending at Machha Khola.

  5. Day 5

    Machha Khola to Jagat

    After early breakfast, cross Machhe Khola and head to the tiny village of Khorla Bensi. The trail becomes more undulating as you reach Tatopani, then you'll cross Budhi Gandaki on a suspension bridge and trek through challenging terrain. Lunch happens at Doban Guest House with river views, and after that you'll cross another suspension bridge over Yaru Khola. Steep ridges and stone stairs through Tharo Bharyang bring you to Jagat village after 6-7 hours of walking.

  6. Day 6

    Jagat to Deng

    Start with early breakfast and then climb steeply over a ridge to Salleri before descending to Sirdibas. You'll cross Gandaki River again and hike through grassy slopes toward Gatte Khola. Further along, trek upstream to a long suspension bridge in Philim and continue north on fairly level trail to Ekle Bhatti. During this section you can see Shringi Himal at 7,187m. Crossing the river three times through the valley takes about 6 hours total to reach Deng village.

  7. Day 7

    Deng to Namrung

    Cross Budhi Gandaki River early on and head west up the valley through steep, impressive terrain. You'll pass Lana village with its Mani stones and reach Gham after 4 hours for lunch. Continuing through Prok village, you'll see beautiful gompas and dense forest with streams. The pleasant walking later becomes a steep climb before you arrive at Namrung after 6 hours of trekking. The lodge there serves a decent meal for the evening.

  8. Day 8

    Namrung to Samagaon

    From Namrung you have views of Siring and Ganesh Himal after breakfast. Trek steadily through forests to Lihi, a beautiful village with chortens and barley terraces. As you pass through Sho, Lho and Shyala villages you'll see Simrang Himal and Ganesh Himal. Stop at the famous Ribung Gompa at Lho village, then continue through scenic villages surrounded by mountains like Himal Chuli and Ngadi Chuli. The 6-7 hour trek ends at Samagaon.

  9. Day 9

    Samagaon

    Today is for acclimatizing and resting at Samagaon where you can explore the local Sherpa culture and thousands of Mani stones with Buddhist texts and pictures. An optional exploration to Sama village and the old Pungyen Gompa monastery takes about 6 hours of walking and offers views of the glacier. The monastery was named 'bracelet' after Manaslu and was partially destroyed after an unsuccessful Japanese climbing attempt in 1958, though Japan succeeded the next year.

  10. Day 10

    Samagaon to Samdo

    The trail descends to Budhi Gandaki River and then follows north toward a bridge over a side stream through terrain with Mani walls. You'll head toward the river and pass through forests of juniper and birch. The path drops slowly through lush terrain with a wooden bridge crossing Budhi Gandaki and then climbs steeply over two river forks. This relatively short trek of 4-5 hours takes you through a stone arch with views of a white Kani before arriving at Samdo.

  11. Day 11

    Samdo

    Your second acclimatization day at Samdo gives you choices. You can rest at the tea house or hike to the valley behind Samdo village, passing through trading trails with excellent views of Mount Manaslu, Hiunchuli, Simrang, and Ngadi. On the hike you might encounter herders and their settlements called doksas, and if lucky, see wildlife like Lophophorus, Lammergeyer, and Himalayan Griffin. Alternatively, trek to Gya La, a more frequently used trading route to Tibet, though that takes the full day and isn't on this itinerary.

  12. Day 12

    Samdo to Dharamsala

    Trek for 4-5 hours to Dharamsala starting with a descent past the northern village and crossing Budhi Gandaki. Follow grassy terrains and forests with rhododendron and juniper above Syacha Khola Valley. You'll see the Larkya Glacier as you cross two streams along the trail. Beyond Larkya La Phedi, climb through steep terrain to reach the stone guest house in Dharamsala. This shorter trekking day leaves you plenty of time to relax in the afternoon.

  13. Day 13

    Dharamsala to Bimtang

    Climb steep trails to Larkya La early in the morning. The trail is windy and rocky with spectacular sunrise views of Mount Manaslu, Larke Peak, and Cheo Himal. It can be very cold, especially if windy, and snowfall or ice conditions might slow you down. Walk across moraines of the Larkya Glacier and see remarkable views of Cho Danda with a magnificent basin of ice walls below. Trek into pastures with evening mist, taking 8-9 hours total to reach Bimtang.

  14. Day 14

    Bimtang to Tilije

    Enjoy early breakfast with views of Mt. Manaslu and Lamjung Himal. Trek 6-7 hours from Bimtang to Tilije, descending and crossing Sangure Kharka. After crossing a bridge over Dudh Khola you'll pass through high pasture areas and descend into Purdin Khola valley. Climb to a ridge at 4,150 meters with excellent views of Mount Manaslu and Annapurna II. Beyond another bridge over Dudh Khola you'll descend into forest and cultivated land at Karche. Pass through Gho village and continue to Tilije.

  15. Day 15

    Tilije to Besisahar

    After early breakfast at Tilije, trek through farmlands toward the river's east bank. Descend gradually into Marsyangdi Valley through scrub forest toward Thonje. Continue along the main Annapurna Circuit route to Dharapani where you'll have lunch. From there, board a reserved jeep or local bus to Besisahar, a trip of about 3-4 hours. You'll pass beautiful waterfalls and lush landscapes on the drive. Check in at a lodge and have a decent meal when you arrive.

  16. Day 16

    Besisahar to Kathmandu

    Eat breakfast at 7am before heading out from Besisahar to Kathmandu via microbus on a 5-6 hour drive. The route follows the banks of Marsyangdi and Trishuli rivers with crisp views of hills and mountains. You can book a microbus ticket until 2pm or take a bus after breakfast. You'll arrive at Balaju Bus park and return to your hotel in Kathmandu. Spend the evening at leisure or shopping, then celebrate finishing the trek with a pleasant farewell dinner with your trekking team.

    Kathmandu to Airport

    Pack your belongings and check out from the hotel. Agency staff meet you outside and escort you to the reserved vehicle with your luggage. Travel to Tribhuvan International Airport, arriving 3 hours before your departure. Staff confirm your ticket and wish you a safe flight home. The tour ends with your departure.
