Lyon
You'll arrive in Lyon and check into your river cruise this afternoon. The city itself is worth exploring before you depart, with narrow alleyways and historic courtyards throughout the Old Town. Once evening arrives, you'll notice the 200 illuminated sights around the city lighting up nicely. The ship departs at 18:00, so you'll want to get settled in and grab dinner on board as you begin heading south along the Rhône.

You'll pull into Viviers at 10:00 in the morning. This small medieval town in the Ardèche has well-preserved buildings and the typical French atmosphere you're probably hoping to find. You have the whole day until 22:00 to walk around and see the sights at your own pace before heading back to the ship for departure.

Van Gogh spent time here too, which adds another layer if you're interested in that. Wander around on your own schedule and take in what interests you most.

Port Saint-Louis-du-Rhône
The ship departs Arles early at 05:00, so you'll be heading south toward Port-Saint-Louis-du-Rhône. You'll arrive at 09:00, about 40 kilometers south near where the river meets the Mediterranean. The Camargue region surrounds this area, and if you want views of the landscape, the Saint Louis tower provides a good vantage point from up top.

Either way, you'll have several hours to explore before your 9:00 PM departure, so there's no rush to pack everything in.
