You'll arrive in Lima and connect with your local host for the drive to your hotel in Miraflores, the upscale neighborhood where you're staying. This evening, join your Travel Director and the rest of the group for dinner to kick things off.

- Day 2
Lima
A Local Specialist takes you through Lima's colonial heart, hitting the UNESCO Historic Centre to see the Cathedral, Palace of the Union, and the Church of San Francisco with its underground catacombs. Then you'll head to a local market where Chef Ignacio Barrios talks through Peruvian ingredients before you watch a cooking demonstration and eat lunch at his school. After that, the day is yours to do what you like.

Cusco - Sacred Valley
You'll fly to Cusco and continue to the Sacred Valley. Start at Manos de la Comunidad weaving centre learning about lindaje traditions and the four Andean camelids. After lunch featuring local food, you'll check into your hotel, the Sonesta Posadas del Inca Yucay, a converted 18th-century monastery. Later, you'll spend time with local artisans who work to keep Peru's textile heritage alive.

Ollantaytambo - Machu Picchu
Head to Ollantaytambo in the Sacred Valley, then board the Vistadome train for the journey to Machu Picchu. Once there, a Local Specialist walks you through this 15th-century site, showing you the temples, palaces, and terraces including the Temple of the Sun, House of the Priest, Sacred Plaza, and Intihuatana.

Machu Picchu - Cusco
You'll have another chance to explore Machu Picchu before heading back on the train to the Sacred Valley. From there, travel to Cusco and stop at a local chicheria along the way to learn how Peruvian corn beer is made and taste its sweet, distinctive flavor.

Cusco
Your Local Specialist guides you through Cusco's colonial sacred centre, pointing out 16th-century Spanish colonial buildings constructed over former Inca temples, the baroque Cathedral on Plaza de Armas, the 17th-century Church of Santo Domingo, and the Sacsayhuamán fortress with its massive stone terraces. You'll also see old Inca grain warehouses nearby. The afternoon is free for your own exploration.

Take it easy this morning, then fly back to Lima in the afternoon. End the day with dinner among your travel group in the museum's garden restaurant.

Explore Quito's historical centre, the first place the world designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Then travel to the 'Middle of the World' monument and stand right on the Equator. You have the rest of the day to spend however you'd like.

Baltra Island - Galápagos Cruise
Fly from Quito to Baltra Island and board your Galápagos cruise for three nights. After getting settled and grabbing lunch on board, head to North Seymour Island for a guided walk across rocky ground looking for frigatebirds, blue-footed boobies, swallow-tailed gulls, and sea lions. You'll also snorkel nearby with views toward the Daphne Islands. Dinner on board marks the start of your Galápagos adventure.

Snorkel and potentially see Galápagos penguins, white-tipped reef sharks, and sea lions. In the afternoon, visit Sullivan Bay to walk across pahoehoe lava flows showing patterns from past eruptions. Spend time on the beach for a swim or snorkel before dinner back on your cruise.

San Cristóbal Island
Arrive at Punta Pitt on San Cristóbal Island and hike up the eroded tuff cone for panoramic views and a chance to spot all three booby species: blue-footed, red-footed, and Nazca. Snorkel or kayak along the coast watching for sea lions and seabirds. Later, visit Cerro Brujo beach backed by lava formations, where you can snorkel or walk to a hidden lagoon with possibilities of seeing black-necked stilts, whimbrels, and white-cheeked pintails. Return for your final evening on board.

Spend time in town picking up any last souvenirs before heading to San Cristóbal Airport for your flight back to Quito, where your Galápagos journey ends.
