First let me say that Romania is a stunningly beautiful country with the warmest, kindest, and most generous people. I’m so glad we decided to visit!!!! The natural beauty, the amazing history, and the ancient sites provided us with the trip of a lifetime. I learned sooo much about the history and culture, and loved seeing the pride Romanians take in preserving their heritage! Thank you sooo very much for making our visit such a wonderful experience. Your assistance was invaluable to us, especially with us being first-time travelers to your country and region. We would’ve never been able to have planned it without your help! Regarding the itinerary, there were a lot of good attractions, especially Peles Castle, Horezu Pottery, and the Art Museum! I really enjoyed the farmers market and sampling the local produce! The only change I would make on the itinerary would be to offer more rural village stops, as those types of days gave us a true flavor of what it is like to live in the Romanian countryside and village, but that was just our own personal preference, other travelers may feel differently. After touring the country we realized that for us personally, it doesn’t all have to be so heavily “famous sites”. Watching a craftsman at the pottery shop, driving through Bucharest in the Dacia, stopping at a remote mountain truck stop to eat mici, seeing the mountainside draped in all its beautiful fall majesty, those moments create amazing memories also! We also realized that we prefer letting our guide suggest restaurants for dinner or choosing our own place, over having reservations at restaurants with a fixed dinner time and a fixed menu. Again, that’s a personal preference, nothing against the picks you made. I especially enjoyed the cherry liqueur and plum liqueur we were greeted with at two of our stops! The owner of one place even sold me some of his homemade cherry cordial! Regarding accommodations, the two Grand Hotels were white-glove clean and excellent in every single aspect. And while we appreciated that the renovated rooms at the rustic accommodation gave us a true experience of living in Romania in an earlier era, and absolutely loved our rooms, they really need the mattresses changed. The beds were saggy and lumpy and just downright miserable. The Ruelle would have been an absolute rave review if the heating in Michelle’s room had worked, but the front desk worker was unable to cut the heating off, and nobody wants to spend the night in a 90 degree room. Personally, I thought they could’ve done more, like offer her another room if one was open, or called for immediate maintenance workers. Their “just open a window and deal with it” attitude was disappointing for an otherwise beautiful luxurious five star property. But to their credit, the same front desk worker went out of her way to find me a massage therapist at a late hour, which I really appreciated. She did go the extra mile for me there!!! Regarding our guide, Andrei, there are not enough words to describe how incredible he is! He knows everything about Romania, be it history, pop culture, sports, local villages, backroads, food, etc, he answered our every question! He was incredibly flexible with our schedules, was keen to know what we liked and disliked so he could suggest some unscheduled activities, and hauled our over-packed luggage without complaint even though we felt guilty about it! His driving skills rival anyone I’ve ever ridden with, being able to navigate traffic and small parking spots with precision. Also, he is just a very kind person in general. By the end of the trip, I wanted to adopt him and take him home with me! Hertha, thank you and TourRadar for an amazing trip! I have returned home from a country and tour experience I never knew I needed to see or do! Every day was an adventure, and experiences varied widely from day to day. From a forest hike up a mountain, a glacier lake and multiple bear sightings to incredible castles, accommodations, museums and citadels. The food was delicious, and our tour guide was EXCEPTIONAL. Our days never began before a 10am meet up (it was vacation, after all) and yet they were so full and fun it felt like I was gone at least 10 days. Communication with the company was excellent, questions were always answered in a timely manner. I can’t think of a thing I would change. It was a dream come true to see Romania and to travel the path of Vlad, with my daughter and granddaughter. Thank you, Thank You, THANK YOU!!!Show more
