You'll arrive in Cologne with the whole morning and afternoon ahead before your 18:00 departure. The city's worth wandering through on your own, so check out the cathedral and other landmarks scattered throughout the old town. Grab lunch somewhere central, then head back to the ship with plenty of time to settle in before boarding.

- Day 2
Rüdesheim
The ship docks at 11:00 in Rüdesheim, and you'll have access to the famous Drosselgasse right away. This 144-metre pedestrian lane is the heart of what locals call Rhine Romanticism, with cultural spots and historic homes lining the street. Try the local Rüdesheim coffee while you're there, and spend time checking out the fortifications and stately homes around town.

Speyer
You're docking in Speyer, which has been around for over 2,000 years as one of Germany's oldest planned medieval towns. The main draw is the Speyer Cathedral, a UNESCO site and one of the country's most important High Romanesque structures. With a full day here, you'll have time to see the cathedral and walk around this historic Upper Rhine city without feeling rushed.

Frankfurt
Frankfurt's arrival happens early, giving you a solid block of time in Goethe's birthplace. Walk along the Main River, check out the high-rises and cultural attractions, and get a feel for why this city matters.

Mainz to Koblenz
Begin in Mainz, a city with more than 2,000 years of history behind it. You'll have the morning to walk around and get a feel for the place before boarding your A-ROSA ship at noon. After that, you'll head downriver to Koblenz, where the Rhine and Moselle rivers meet at the Deutsches Eck. The city itself has historic palaces and an old town worth checking out while you're there.

The ship doesn't leave until 21:30, so you'll have hours to explore without hurrying back.

Bonn

Use your free time to walk around and see what this important historical centre has to offer before things get busy.

Cologne
The ship departs Bonn at 03:00, and you'll cruise back north to Cologne, arriving by 06:00 in the early morning. After your time on the Rhine, you can either disembark and take one last walk through Cologne's streets, or head straight onward after this river cruise comes to an end.
