Itinerary
- Day 1
Cusco to Kenko Village
You'll head out from your Cusco hotel at 7:00 AM for a 20-minute drive to Tambomachay, where your trek begins. The hike takes you across gentle mountain paths with sweeping grasslands and quiet lakes at some of Cusco's highest passes. By midday you'll reach Koriccocha Lake, where your trekking chef has prepared lunch with fresh local ingredients. After eating, you'll continue hiking for roughly two hours to Kenko Village, passing llamas and alpacas along the way before settling into camp for the night in this peaceful Andean community.

- Day 2
Kenko Village to Ollantaytambo
This morning starts with coffee and sunrise views over Kenko Village before breakfast. You'll climb gently for an hour into the highlands, taking in views of the Sacred Valley below. From there, you descend for two hours along peaceful streams and through canyons to reach Huchuy Qosqo, an Inca city sitting high above the valley. After exploring the ancient ruins, you'll hike another 1.5 hours into the Sacred Valley for a picnic lunch. A van then takes you through the valley to Ollantaytambo, where you'll check into your hotel, have dinner at a local restaurant, and walk through the cobblestone streets.

- Day 3
Ollantaytambo to Aguas Calientes via Inca Trail
After breakfast at your hotel, you'll board one of the first trains from Ollantaytambo heading to Km 104 for the Short Inca Trail. Following a checkpoint stop, you'll hike for 7 hours, passing through Inca sites like Chachabamba, Wiñay Wayna, and the Sun Gate where you first see Machu Picchu. The timing gets you there in the late afternoon when crowds have thinned out, giving you space to explore. Later, a bus takes you down to Aguas Calientes where you'll check in and have dinner at a local restaurant.

- Day 4
Machu Picchu to Cusco
You'll wake before dawn and catch one of the first buses to Machu Picchu to potentially catch the sunrise (depending on weather). A guided tour covers the most important sections of the ancient city, which takes 2 to 3 hours. After that, free time lets you hike Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain if you've arranged tickets ahead. By afternoon you'll take a bus back to Aguas Calientes for lunch on your own, then board the panoramic Vistadome train to Ollantaytambo. A private van completes your journey back to Cusco, where you'll arrive around 7:30 PM.
