- Day 1
Arrival in Quito
You'll touch down at Mariscal Sucre International Airport where a driver meets you for the drive to your hotel in Puembo, a quiet rural area about 20 minutes away. The colonial-style property has gardens and a pool, which makes it a nice spot to settle in before your early start tomorrow. If you arrive with time to spare, the hotel can arrange a taxi into downtown Quito so you're not stuck waiting around.

Quito to Galapagos Islands
An early morning transfer gets you to the airport for your flight to the Galapagos via Guayaquil. Once you land at Baltra, your guide's there to meet you, and from there it's a short bus ride and taxi boat to Santa Cruz Island. You'll check out the Fausto Llerena Breeding Centre to see tortoises from different islands and view Lonesome George, then head to Puerto Ayora to board the Archipel I for your week exploring the islands.

- Day 3
Isabela Island Exploration
You land on Isabela Island and walk to Moreno Point this morning along trails that follow hardened lava flows next to coastal lagoons full of birds. Later you head to Urbina Bay at Alcedo Volcano's base for hiking with caldera views and a chance to see the marine reef that rose from the ocean back in 1950. Yellow land iguanas, flightless cormorants, tortoises, turtles and rays all show up in this area.

- Day 4
Fernandina and Vicente Roca Point
This morning takes you to Punta Espinoza on Fernandina, the youngest island in the Galapagos, where massive marine iguana colonies, flightless cormorants and different bird species hang out. You walk trails along the beach and across lava flows, then have lunch onboard while sailing toward Isabela Island. In the afternoon, Vicente Roca Point awaits with a dark cave below a dramatic arch, and snorkeling in protected coves where sharks, penguins, puffer fish and seahorses live.

- Day 5
Santiago and Rabida Islands
The morning brings you to Egas Port on Santiago Island, a black-sand beach with striking giant lava formations in a harsh landscape with minimal vegetation. After lunch you move to the red sand beaches of Rabida to see a lagoon and the well-known bachelor sea lion colony. Trails let you spot pelicans and boobies, you'll see the saltwater lagoon and palo santo trees inland, then snorkel to find various fish, white-tip sharks and sea lions.

- Day 6
Black Turtle Cove and Return to Quito
You explore the mangrove lagoon at Black Turtle Cove this morning by small panga boat, getting close looks at marine life in their natural setting. That afternoon brings a transfer to the airport for your flight back to Quito. Once you arrive on the mainland, the drive takes you to your hotel for your last night in Ecuador.

Departure from Quito

If your flight leaves later in the day, the hotel has luggage storage available so you're not carrying everything around.
