Itinerary
- Day 1
Cairo
You'll be picked up at Cairo International Airport and taken to your hotel. After you get settled, there's a welcome meeting at 6pm. If you have some time before then, you can walk around the city streets or head to the Cairo Citadel, a 12th-century fortress that holds museums and mosques.

- Day 2
Cairo
Start with breakfast, then visit the Pyramids of Giza and the Sphinx with a local guide who'll explain their 4,500-year history. After that, check out the Egyptian Museum to see treasures from Tutankhamun's tomb, like his golden death mask and gilded sarcophagi. You'll head back to your hotel to clean up before boarding an overnight sleeper train to Luxor later that evening.

Luxor
You'll arrive in Luxor around 6am. The early morning takes you to Karnak Temple, a complex of temples, chapels, and pylons built over 1,000 years that was once Egypt's most important religious site. Your leader will show you the Avenue of Sphinxes and the Great Temple of Amun. After boarding your Nile River Cruise and getting to your cabin, there's an optional walking tour of Luxor and its bazaar this afternoon.

- Day 4
Luxor
A private minivan takes you to explore ancient Thebes, starting at the Colossi of Memnon, two 17-meter statues on Luxor's west bank. Then you'll head to the Valley of the Kings to see over 60 pharaoh tombs decorated with reliefs and paintings, visiting three royal tombs including Tutankhamun's. Next is the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut against dramatic cliffs. The afternoon is free to shop or visit the Mummification Museum. You'll sail to Edfu this evening.

- Day 5
Kom Ombo
After breakfast, travel to Kom Ombo to see the unique double temple built in the 2nd century BC on the Nile's bank. Each side has a different design and dedication, one to Sobek the crocodile god and one to Haroeris the falcon god. Your leader will walk you through the fascinating reliefs. Lunch is aboard the ship before you sail on to Aswan.

- Day 6
Aswan
The morning is yours to do as you like, whether relaxing or exploring. Your leader can suggest optional activities in this area with its nice Nile Valley scenery and significant archaeological sites. Check out the city center and bazaar, or pick from various optional excursions. Late afternoon, take a leisurely sail on a traditional felucca before dinner on the ship.

- Day 7
Cairo
You'll say goodbye to the Nile after breakfast and visit Philae Temple this morning, an island complex built around 280 BC with hieroglyphic scenes from Egyptian mythology on its walls. A short flight gets you back to Cairo. Spend time in the Islamic parts of the city and explore Khan al-Khalili, one of the world's oldest and largest bazaars with narrow streets and alleys. This evening, you're invited to a local Cairo family's home for a home-cooked dinner to mark the end of your trip.
