Great overview of England, Scotland and Wales. Peter W. is an excellent, fun guide. Peter W. was able to make everyone feel part of the group and include a wide variety of history, geography and tales about every place we visited. He made it appealing and engaging for everyone by including tunes on the tour bus related to our destinations each day. 5 stars for Peter W!

Lots of sights to see on this trip. Most of the optional excursions were very good. The tour of Shakespear's birth place was neat - but not impressed with the tea and fingers sandwiches afterwards. The best part was probably Scotland and our group dinner in the Highlands. One suggestion I have is to start and end the tour at some other location than the Novotel in Greenwich. Although it was right next to a train station, it was very difficult to get to and from Heathrow Airport.

In summary, this was one of the most disappointing vacations I have ever experienced. And at many levels. To begin, the information available from you about this trip was inadequate and misleading - if not completely deceptive. And, unlike every other touring organization, it was extremely difficult to communicate with you. Absolutely impossible to call directly to obtain detailed information. So item by item. Your initial I al meeting place was extremely inconvenient to reach. Why not at the airport or downtown London. Plus you dud not disclose the location of the two hotels initially - so I booked reservations elsewhere. Secondly, this was the first time I have ever experienced having all the daily tour excursions as "optional" and requiring additional payment. This absolutely was not made clear in your advertising. The amount of time riding on the bus was horrible - perhaps 2/3 or 3/4 of our total vacation time. Consequently the amount of time actually spent to our major destinations was wholly inadequate Normally arriving in the evening and departing very early morning. The experience in Edinburgh was the worst. How dare you put us up at a distant airport hotel? What an abysmal experience. A 40 tram ride into town. One of the highlights of any vacation is being able to step out of the hotel and be in the middle of town. This gross inconvenience was NOT disclosed! I purchased a single supplement. However twice I was placed in a tiny single room. I should be reimbursed. Indeed, the organization with which I normally tour, Overseas Adventure Travel NEVER charge for a single supplement on its land tours. Finally, most of the daily excursions were a complete waist of time and money. Particularly the two silly lake cruises. I will never tour with your organization again. And I will strongly discourage any friends from doing so. One positive note. The tour leader, Peter W was excellent.

Based on the current itinerary, the group will arrive in Liverpool on Day 5 after visiting Gretna Green and the Lake District. You'll enjoy a driving tour of the city that afternoon, followed by an overnight stay at a centrally located hotel such as the ibis Liverpool Centre Albert Dock. With this schedule, it's unlikely there will be enough free time for a full 3-hour Beatles tour or the Mersey Ferries River Explorer Cruise, as most of the sightseeing is already included in the itinerary. However, you may still have some free time in the evening after check-in to enjoy a relaxed visit to the Cavern Club or explore the Albert Dock area.

    Asked on October 21st, 2025

Will I have time to do the Beatles house tour 10-Noon departing from station 2 Liverpool Friday morning.

    • Expat Explore TravelOperatorWritten October 2025

Part of the tour already includes the Beatles' Magical Mystery Tour in Liverpool, which covers many of the city's famous Beatles landmarks. We have our own scheduled program during this time, we can't guarantee availability to join additional external tours. You will have free times as well and we do allow passengers to roam around during free times.

When will I receive the complete itinerary. If the magical mystery tour is at the same time as the tour I want can I opt out? Also would it be possible without too much trouble for me and my friend to spend more time in Liverpool and meet up with the group later in the day.

    • Expat Explore TravelOperatorWritten October 2025

You will receive the final detailed itinerary in your Tour Leader Announcement (TLA), which is sent approximately 10–15 days before your tour departure. If the Magical Mystery Tour happens to coincide with a scheduled group activity, you are welcome to opt out and join later at your own convenience. However, please note that we are unable to refund any missed inclusions or services from the main tour program. If you wish to spend additional time in Liverpool and meet up with the group later in the day, you may do so, but you need to coordinate this directly with your Tour Leader on tour to ensure a smooth rejoin.

    • Expat Explore TravelOperatorWritten August 2025

    • Expat Explore TravelOperatorWritten August 2025

Regarding travel insurance, you may add it when checking out if offered, or alternatively, purchase coverage from another provider in your country. We recommend insurance that covers trip cancellation and interruption, medical assistance and repatriation, and lost or damaged baggage.

On the final day, after visiting Stonehenge, the coach will travel directly back to London/Greenwich without any further scheduled stops. The tour will end with a drop-off at the designated ending point specified for your departure.

    • Expat Explore TravelOperatorWritten June 2025

That should be fine with us but it will ultimately be up to your husband if he is okay with the active nature of the tour. We believe the best way to get to the heart and soul of a city is on foot, surrounded by the people and the culture. For this reason, we do walking tours through most of the cities we visit. Many of the cities you visit are vast and old, often with steps and cobblestones. Our walking tours can last up to 3 hours with plenty of opportunities to take photographs and soak up the history of these fascinating places, but you do require a certain level of fitness to enjoy your tour to its fullest. If the above statement is fine with your husband and does not pose any risks, then he is more than welcome to join the tour.
