  Summary: For the money, as first timers, this was really worth it to get a feel of both countries and their ways. Let me break this down in 3 parts: Tour Visits, Tour Guides and Countries For Tour Visits: It really covers most of the important places to see as landmarks / history of the country and i think every place was worth it. That being said prepare to pay around 500 Egyptian Pounds and about 300 Jordanian Dinars per place you visit (some will be less, almost none are more except the extra stuff like Light Shows). Any cancellations that happen due to weather or bad scheduling can be talked with your guide to have a replacement (we didn't really talk about refunds, so no clue about that). In Egypt you will encounter a bit of harrassment from sellers, depending on your guide and path, you may be able to avoid a little but just be prepared to say no or act as if they don't exist. If you like something, try haggling a lot (paying 70 or 50% of the price is easily doable on most places). In Jordan you can haggle for about 25% less and they won't harrass you as much. Only on one place we had small issues but overall you will have to pay a lot of visits to local traders, and you can decide to buy or not, nothing is mandatory and most of the shops have bathrooms and give you refreshments. For Tour Guides: on Giza we had Ilhab and he was incredible, we got to enjoy the Great Egyptian Museum first thing as soon as it opened and even got pictures with the giant Ramses II before all the crowds got into the entrance room. He clearly explained the most important rooms and let us decide what to do with our time. Same thing in the pyramids, where we also asked him to put us in touch with guys who handle camels for some amazing shots of the 3 pyramids. On the cruise we had Mohammed, he was ok... a little bit jumpy wants to stick to schedule but isn't sure what the schedule is most of the time. We had a couple of issues with him regarding times and places but everything was worked out.   Jordan tour company Axis guide met us inside the airport. He introduced us and said he will guide us through the process, so we're asked to get currency exchanged to first take care of his tip and for others. We had enough cash to tip him in US dollars. If this is his training we did not want his guidance. He asked us to give him our passports as we need evisa. Apparently, he should have been aware that we are visiting for a few days and don't need evisa. Finally, imegration guy confirmed it and we moved on. I was so glad when he left us with our driver. I didn't want to see this guide again. Unfortunately, on our flight out of Jordan, Axis sent the same guide with a kind gift gesture. I told the guide to leave us before we got in line for the check in counter. When going thru security the gift bag had some face mask. Because this is in fluid form, no liquids are allowed and had to be trashed. Hopefully, Axis takes all the above comments to heart so future customers can have a better experience.Show more

We were hoping for a schedule outlining what to expect throughout the trip, but instead, we had to play it by ear on a day-by-day basis with each new guide. Also, be aware that you’ll need to pay for entry at each site you visit, as the tour does not cover these fees. This added approximately $220 USD per person by the end of our trip. We had about five different guides on our tour. While most of them were good, we’d especially like to praise Emad in Aswan—by far the best tour guide we had in Egypt. He was enthusiastic, friendly, and genuinely seemed to care about Egypt and its history. He was also the only guide who didn’t try to take us to a tourist trap and even helped keep street peddlers away. The other tour guides were okay. They were all nice, and having a guide around helped deter some scammers. However, one guide allowed us to be hassled by street vendors and even tried to get us to overpay for items. The guides would typically spend about 15 to 30 minutes quickly walking us through monuments or museums, then leave us to explore on our own for another 30 minutes. It felt like we were getting half a tour because other groups had guides with them the entire time. At least once a day, the guides would also take us to stores under the guise of visiting a local specialty shop or museum, only to sell us the same items found in bazaars—just with an “authentic” label attached. Every guide did this, and it became annoying after the third time. Overall, my experience in Egypt was okay. The guides were hit or miss, and the accommodations from city to city were average. The eateries included in the tour ranged from okay to barely edible—I recommend seeking out restaurants with better reviews. If I were to visit Egypt again, I would book my own accommodations and find independent guides through the hotel. The Jordan leg of our journey was contracted to AXIS Destination Management, and the experience was great. I would gladly use them again if I return to Jordan.Show more

  Not having any friends or family who went did an Egypt or Jordan trip and traveling as a solo female, I feel like this tour was definitely the best option! The team was so helpful and accommodating, helping to managing through my delayed flight and get be sorted so my trip started off on the right foot! All the guides and drivers were absolutely amazing! So kind and so knowledgeable. Mohamed, Peter and Dana were truly amazing and made my entire experience, thank you thank you! Knowing how much the hotels were individually and some of the prices I was seeing else where, I do feel like I paid more than I what I got, but justified in that I paid for the convenience and private tour aspect. There are a few moments where I felt rushed, but I’m sure if I communicated/knew what I wanted to do every one would have been understanding and supportive, so I would say that was on me to do a bit more research beforehand. Overall, an incredible and phenomenal experience that and I am so grateful for. Anyone I know who’s interested I would definitely recommend a few things to; changes, things to be aware etc, but overall very pleased and grateful for this amazing, wonderful experience.Show more
