  ⭐️ 1/5 – Extremely disappointing and unsafe experience Our experience with Itaca Travel in Egypt was unacceptable. We were supposed to be picked up at 3:00 AM for our flight, but the driver never showed up. We waited until 3:30 AM with no communication whatsoever. To avoid missing our flight, we had no choice but to order an Uber, meaning we had to travel alone as two girls for nearly a 1-hour ride in the middle of the night, which felt extremely unsafe. What made this worse was the complete lack of communication from Itaca for almost 2 hours. When someone finally responded, it was a rude and dismissive message, saying it was a “human mistake,” that we should have waited indefinitely, and that we were somehow ungrateful, completely unprofessional and inappropriate. We were promised a refund of $100 plus $25 for the Uber, but this promise was not honored. Instead, they refunded only $75, with no proper explanation. This is not a reliable or responsible tour company, especially for women traveling on their own. Safety, communication, and accountability were all handled terribly. I would strongly advise others, particularly female travelers to think twice before booking with Itaca.Show more

  As Australians, it took a long time to find a small tour to explore Egypt. We ended up booking Itaca through tour radar and we were not disappointed. You definitely need a guide in Egypt. Expect to see touts at the incredible sites. Ignore them and you will be fine. We were picked up and saw everything as per itinerary. We had some time on our own with a guide and driver and then with 4 other lovely people. The accommodation was great. Big clean rooms. The hotel staff were very welcoming and always offered a welcome juice drink. The cruise was excellent. We loved the food and you could get access to alcohol on the cruise. The views were beautiful from the boat. Be ready to get up early most days but it will be worth it to see everything at the best times. The tour contacts let you know the day before about timing of flights etc… don’t let this worry you as they always turn up on time. You will also we provided with an eSIM which lasted the 9 days for us. As Australia’s we had to get used to tipping. Research tipping recommendations before you arrive. The driving in Egypt is very different. They drive fast but we had no issues. The tour was excellent value. We loved only being with 4 others or on our own with guides. Egypt is a very interesting country. The sites are unbelievable. I wrote this review as we spent months. looking and wanted to help clarify what to expect. Happy travels.Show more

  The trip was amazing. Itaca Tour organized our whole tour perfectly and was very responsive to changes, for example when there was a delay between the last stop of the cruise and the flight back to Cairo - they organized a hotel for us to rest a couple hours before flying back. Our tour guides Emad and Kareem were very knowledgeable. Kareem is an Egytologist and we were lucky to have a private tour with him to the Giza pyramids and the Grand Egyptian Museum where he lost his voice explaining us so many things about ancient Egypt. We had a lot of fun and wished we could have extended the time - we highly recommend Kareem as guide! The only downside of the tour was that we saw two sites (Luxor temple and Kom Ombo Temple) in the dark because of the schedule of the cruise. I wished we knew this before because I would have preferred to visit those sites during the day. This is nothing that Itaca could have managed, but I might have researched a four-day cruise with more time in between to visit more sites during daylight. One more suggestion to Itaca: give recommendations to participants what to do in the evenings. We spent most evenings in our hotel room, but would have also liked to get some recommendations on evenings activities (e.g. restaurants, concerts, etc.) to also fill the evening hours in Kairo.Show more

We had Sue Helen who was marvellous, with impeccable French, clear explanations and a great knowledge of her country and its history. We were able to ask all our questions, which were answered. What's more, she took very good care of our well-being. In short, it was perfect. As for the others, some shone through their kindness or their humor, but their French was approximate and I wonder about their knowledge for some ... so there rather 2 stars (except Sue Helen 5 stars). The hotels: 4-star Egyptian, so nothing to complain about in terms of service. I had asked for a one-night upgrade to a 5-star. It didn't happen, but Itaca refunded the money immediately. So 5 stars. The cruise: between 3 and 4 stars: great boat, friendly, welcoming staff. The big drawback was that the lock crossing to get to Luxor was poorly planned, so we lost our planned late-afternoon visit and had to do it the next day, so we had to run at a snail's pace! All in all, we have excellent memories of this trip, which was very competitive in terms of value for money, and we have no regrets.   We had an amazing time on our trip!!! It was easy to find the pick-up person at airport and he helped us with the visa and getting through customs. Eyad was our driver from the airport and explained our itinerary to us and made sure we got checked into our hotel okay. Eyad and Mahmoud were our primary point of contacts while traveling. (Make sure your phone works so you can receive texts.) Communication was very clear for each day on when pick up was and when our internal flights were. Mahmoud was great about checking in during to make sure everything was going well. Our private drivers/guides were always on time. We really loved our different tour guides, especially Peter. You have at least 1 guide in Cairo, 1 for Aswan area, 1 for Luxor so we tipped daily. Luxor area and Edfu Temple were the highlights of our trip. The itinerary was very organized and gave us plenty of time in each area. The cruise was also great and the views beautiful. Breakfast was every day and lunch was included on many day tours and the cruise. We did add-on the Abu Simbel, Alexandria, and Saqqara tour options when we booked, but were still given the opportunity to add-on hot air balloon, Temple of Philae light show, and Nubian village during the tour (no pressure). We could pay card for entrance fees to the museums/sites. Our only negative was the Cairo hotel as it was still going through construction so was a bit lacking though apparently comparable to others in the area. But considering it was a 2-star accommodation and the price we paid, it was fine. Other than that, we truly had an amazing time! I would highly recommend this company to others considering going to Egypt and wanting to see a variety of places. I did my research and for the price and itinerary this could not be beat.
