Itinerary
- Day 1
Marrakech to Ouirgane National Park
You'll get picked up in Marrakech and head to Aguersioual where your guide, cook, and muleteers meet you. The first day is an acclimatisation trek through Ouirgane National Park, so the terrain stays fairly gentle with copper green soil and juniper trees scattered around. You'll walk for about 4 to 5 hours before settling into a Gite in the Berber village of Tizian for the night.

Ouirgane to Azzaden Valley
After eating breakfast, you'll head up out of the valley and move toward the Azzaden Valley. The landscape opens up nicely here with views of a rushing mountain stream, walnut groves, and Toubkal along with its sister peaks ahead at the valley end. Expect around 7 hours of walking, and you'll stay overnight in either a village Gite or in a camping setup.

Azzaden Valley to Toubkal Refuge
Today's a bit more challenging with a stiff climb out of Azzaden Valley heading toward the Toubkal Refuge. Along the way you'll pass the Ighouliden waterfalls and cross over the Aguelzim Mountain pass at 3,560m/11,680ft. Lunch happens up there with really nice views across the Atlas Range. You'll walk for about 7 hours and sleep at the Toubkal Refuge (Niltner Hut) at 3,200m/10,500ft, most likely sharing a bunk room with other trekkers.

- Day 4
Toubkal Summit to Imlil
Get up early because today you're going for Toubkal's summit at 4,167m/13,671ft. If the weather cooperates, you'll have great views across the Atlas Range and out toward the Sahara Desert. After that, it's a long descent back past the refuge and down a well-worn path to Imlil. This is the longest day of trekking with 8 to 9 hours of walking, including a 900m climb and then about 2,500m descent. You'll stay at Dar Oussagou guesthouse.

- Day 5
Imlil to Dades Gorge
You'll get picked up from your guesthouse at 9am and start driving over the Atlas Mountains through the Tizi-n-Tichka pass, passing through Berber villages and desert landscape with oases and kasbahs. There are optional stops if you want to check out the Ouarzazate Film Studios or take a hike. Once you reach Dades Gorge, you can either take a hike or just relax at the hotel. The drive takes 4 to 5 hours total, and you'll spend the night in Dades.

Dades Valley to Merzouga Desert Camp
Have breakfast at the hotel, then transfer to Todra Gorge with its massive 300m high narrow valley walls. There's an optional hike to explore the palmery if you're interested. After lunch, you'll drive further into the desert toward Merzouga to pick up supplies, then head to a kasbah to get your camel. As the sun sets, you'll trek about 1.5 hours by camel to a Berber camp for traditional Moroccan dinner and sleep under the stars or in tents. Total driving is 3 to 4 hours.

Landmarks Todra Gorge Merzouga - Day 7
Merzouga Desert to Ait Benhaddou
Wake up early to catch the desert sunrise, then ride your camel back to the kasbah. After cleaning up and having breakfast, you'll drive to Ait Benhaddou, an ancient fortified city with countless kasbahs that have shown up in Hollywood films. Your guide will walk you around the buildings so you can explore. The drive takes 5 to 6 hours, and you'll stay in a hotel close to Ait Benhaddou for the night.

- Day 8
Ait Benhaddou to Marrakech
Today you travel along the Ounilla Valley to the Telouet Kasbah, a crumbling structure that once served as an important trading stop. You'll spend time exploring the kasbah, have lunch, and then drive back over the Tizi-n-Tichka Pass heading toward Marrakech. The drive takes about 2 to 3 hours, and you'll wrap up in Marrakech.
