Itinerary

  1. Day 1

    Kathmandu

    After landing at Tribhuwan International Airport in Kathmandu, a representative from Nepal Holiday Treks and Tours will be there to meet you. They'll handle your transfer to the hotel, so you can start settling in and getting oriented to the city.

  2. Day 2

    Kathmandu to Lukla to Phakding

    You'll catch an early morning domestic flight from Kathmandu to Lukla, and the views along the way are something special. The plane lands at Tenzing-Hillary Airport, which sits on a hillside surrounded by high mountains, then you'll trek down to Phakding through beautiful Sherpa valleys.

  3. Day 3

    Phakding to Namche Bazar

    The trek follows the Dudh Koshi River with Mt. Thamserku (6608m) visible along the way. You'll walk through pine, fir and juniper forests and cross several suspension bridges. On clear days, Mt. Everest appears over the Lhotse-Nuptse ridge. After climbing upward through the day, you'll reach Namche Bazar.

  4. Day 4

    Namche Bazar

    This is your acclimatization day in Namche Bazar, so take time to adjust to the altitude. Check out the museum showcasing Sherpa traditional culture in the morning, then hike up to Syangboche Airport near the Everest View Hotel for sunrise and sunset views. Later, wander around the colorful village and its shops.

  5. Day 5

    Namche Bazar to Higher Altitude

    You'll start with a steep climb out of the valley through rhododendron forests. As you gain altitude, juniper and large conifers replace the lower vegetation. Throughout the day, you'll notice Khumbu La and Twache. Spring trekking here offers particularly nice forest scenery along the way.

  6. Day 6

    Higher Altitude Trek

    Continue climbing steadily along the valley side at higher altitude. Small thorny bushes give way to scrub juniper vegetation as you move higher. You'll pass through summer settlements used for yak grazing, and from here you get excellent views of Cho Oyu ahead with Kantega and Thamserku peaks behind.

  7. Day 7

    Trek to Gokyo

    Trek on a scenic path to Pangka, then to the river on the west side of the Ngozumpa Glacier. The climb into the valley by the glacier is steep, and you'll pass by three holy lakes as you go. After passing the second and third lakes, you'll arrive at Gokyo village on the eastern shore.

  8. Day 8

    Gokyo

    You have a rest day in Gokyo by the famous Ngozumpa Glacier. If you're up for it, hike to Gokyo Ri (5583m) for the best views of the valley, glacier, and a panoramic vista including Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Makalu, Cho-Oyu and Gychung Kang. Otherwise, take a short walk around the valley.

    Gokyo to Dole

    Begin heading down from Gokyo today, following the trail back down to Dole. The descent gives you different perspectives on the terrain you covered on the way up.

  10. Day 10

    Dole to Namche Bazar

    Descend steeply from Dole to Phortse Tenga through rhododendron forests. After that, the trail ascends steeply to Mongla Danda (4000m) then continues to Kyanjuma (3500m). Follow ups and downs through the landscape to return to Namche Bazar.

    Namche Bazar to Lukla

    Trek downward toward the Hillary Suspension Bridge and pass through several local villages on the way. You'll arrive in Lukla in the evening and stay in a proper hotel. Celebrate finishing your trek with your team that night.
