Itinerary
- Day 1
Kathmandu to Lukla to Phakding
Your adventure starts with a 15-minute flight from Kathmandu to Lukla, where you'll get nice views of the mountains from the air. Once you land, you begin trekking right away with a 3-hour downhill walk next to the Dudh Koshi River heading to Phakding. This first stretch is more of a warm-up hike, so it sets a good pace for the Gokyo Ri trek that lies ahead.

- Day 2
Phakding to Namche Bazaar
You'll spend about 6 hours trekking along the river from Phakding to Namche Bazaar, crossing multiple suspension bridges as the path climbs steadily. Around 2 hours before reaching Namche, Mount Everest comes into view on the horizon for the first time, which is a real highlight of this section.

- Day 3
Namche Bazaar (Rest and Acclimatization)
This day is for resting at Namche Bazaar to let your body adjust to the altitude. You can visit the Sherpa Museum or Sagarmatha National Park Museum to understand more about local culture and history. A short hike up to Everest View Hotel at 3880 meters/12,730 feet gives you great mountain views, and if you want, you can walk to Khumjung village to see the Khumjung Monastery or check out Syakboche Airport.

Namche Bazaar to Dole
From Namche, you'll trek for 5 to 6 hours through jungle terrain toward Dole. The trail starts with gradual uphill sections through Mong village, then flattens out as you approach the bushline. Along the way, you get views of Mount Kangtega and Mount Thamsherku, which are really nice peaks to see from the trail.

Dole to Machhermo
Today's 4-hour trek from Dole to Machhermo follows proper acclimatization guidelines, so you won't gain more than 500 meters in elevation. Your guide takes you on ridge hikes to see Everest and either visits Pachermo Peak Base Camp or an Everest viewpoint above Machhermo village, depending on conditions.

Landmarks Pachermo Peak Base Camp - Day 6
Machhermo to Gokyo
This 7-hour trek from Machhermo follows the river through villages on the way to Gokyo Valley. You'll pass the 1st and 2nd Gokyo Lakes before arriving at the 3rd lake where Gokyo village sits. This lake is the largest of the six in the valley, and the turquoise glacial water reflects the surrounding peaks beautifully.

- Day 7
Gokyo to Cho You Base Camp
From Gokyo village, you trek for 6 hours past Lakes 4 and 5, eventually reaching the 6th lake at Cho You Base Camp. The walk is quiet and remote, giving you real Himalayan solitude. From the base camp, you get great views of Mount Everest and the peaks all around it.

Landmarks Cho You Base Camp - Day 8
Gokyo Ri Summit
Early morning, you'll climb Gokyo Ri at 5360 meters/17,575 feet to catch the sunrise over hundreds of surrounding mountains, glaciers, and Mount Everest. The views from the summit are actually clearer than what you get from Kalapatthar. After taking in the panorama, you descend for about 1 hour back to Gokyo village, with views of the lakes and glaciers below.

Landmarks Gokyo Ri - Day 9
Gokyo to Namche Bazaar
Today is an 8-hour trek back down from Gokyo to Namche Bazaar, going back the same way you came. You'll pass through Machhermo and usually stop for lunch at Phunkitanga. Retracing the scenic trails gives you a chance to take in the views with fresh eyes and reflect on time at the lakes.

- Day 10
Namche Bazaar to Lukla
You'll cover the first two days of trekking in reverse in a single day, heading from Namche back to Lukla. The walk takes about 7 to 9 hours as you descend back toward lower elevation, crossing the same suspension bridges and river crossings from when you started.

- Day 11
Lukla to Kathmandu
Your final 15-minute flight takes you from Lukla back to Kathmandu. If you're on the right side of the plane, you'll catch mountain views during the flight. After landing, ground transportation brings you back to the city, completing your trek experience.
