    Munich

    You'll arrive in Munich and have the day to yourself to explore the city center at your own pace. Stop by one of the traditional beer gardens to experience Bavarian hospitality, and wander through the various sights the city has to offer. This is a good day to get oriented and start settling in.

  2. Day 2

    Munich to Schäftlarn

    This morning you'll hike along the Isar through forests and meadows while following the Way of St. James toward Schäftlarn monastery. Once you reach the monastery, head to the beer garden to try some Bavarian delicacies and freshly brewed beer. After lunch, the path gets steep as you climb out of the valley to finish at Schäftlarn.

    Schäftlarn to Bernried

From there, continue on to Possenhofen, which has historical significance as the childhood home of Empress Sissi. Walk past Rose Island and Feldafing lido along the shore of Lake Starnberg, following the scenic lakeside path.

    Today is a more relaxed day in a landscape that inspired famous artists like Franz Marc and Kandinsky. You'll follow a suggested route over bridges and footbridges to reach the Lainbach waterfalls. After that, walk the rocky path around Lake Kochelsee to Schlehdorf, then take a boat back to Kochel to finish the day.

Take the cable car down and then catch a bus to Wallgau.

Once you reach the top, the views open up to show you the Zugspitz massif, Wetterstein Mountains, and the city spread out below. After spending time taking in the scenery, you'll head down the mountain by cable car to finish the day in Garmisch, which is a nice way to end things after all that hiking.
