Itinerary
- Day 1
Pisa
You'll arrive in Pisa whenever works for your flight. If you're coming into Pisa Galileo Galilei International Airport, your Leader will be there to arrange a complimentary taxi transfer to the hotel. The city center is actually quite close if you arrive early, just under a kilometer on foot. Around 6:30pm there's a welcome meeting with your Leader, and dinner afterward is optional if you want to join.

- Day 2
Lucca countryside to Garfagnana
After leaving Pisa, you'll drive about 45 minutes northeast into the Lucca countryside. The morning involves a walk and picnic lunch through rolling hills and vineyards, then you'll check out Villa Torrigiani from the 16th century with its distinctive cypress-lined approach. You'll walk through more vineyards and small hamlets before stopping at a local wine estate for tasting. Later in the day you'll head to Garfagnana Valley, where you'll stay at Agriturismo Ristoro del Cavaliere, a restored stone farmhouse with mountain views, for the next five nights.

- Day 3
Orecchiella National Park to Pania Corfino
This morning after breakfast you're driving up into the Apennines to Pruno at 1000 metres altitude in Orecchiella National Park. From there, you'll hike via Sella de Campaiana Pass toward Pania Corfino at 1609 metres, walking through beech forests. At the summit you'll have lunch with nice views, then the route heads back down to the agriturismo.

Apuan Alps and Orto di Donna glacial valley
A 20-minute drive takes you to the Apuan Alps and Orto di Donna glacial valley. Starting from Rifugio Donegani, you'll hike through areas with active white marble quarries and pass under tall rock faces before reaching the 'Marble Road' quarry. After resting at Orto di Donna refuge, you'll descend through beech woods on a different route back to where you started.

Garfagnana or Cinque Terre
This day is yours to plan. One option is taking a train to the UNESCO World Heritage Cinque Terre coastline for village walks. You could train to Corniglia, walk to Vernazzo (about 1.5 hours), grab lunch, then continue to Monterosso al Mare (another 1.5 hours), with the choice of a scenic boat ride instead of walking that section. You'll explore Monterosso before heading back by train. Alternatively, stay around Garfagnana and use self-guided walking routes from the agriturismo with maps provided.

- Day 6
Passo di Pradarena to Monte Prado
You'll do a circular walk from Passo di Pradarena to Monte Prado, at 2054 metres the highest peak in Tuscany. The route passes through beech forests and landscapes in the Apennines and Tuscan Emiliano Park with good alpine views. Back at the pass, you'll have a welcome drink at the refuge before heading back to the agriturismo.

Lucca
You're leaving Garfagnana and heading to Lucca, known for its Renaissance walls that are still intact. Spend time wandering the compact historic center with its Roman street layout at your own pace. You can walk or bike on the city walls, which are up to 12 metres thick and offer good views over the city. Later in the afternoon there's an optional wine tasting at one of the city's wine cellars, and a final dinner at a nice restaurant.

Lucca
Your trip ends this morning after breakfast at the hotel in Lucca. There's nothing scheduled, so you can leave whenever you're ready. A complimentary airport transfer is available using train transportation. Your Leader will provide a combined ticket for the 30-minute journey to Pisa Centrale station, then you'll take the Pisa Mover airport tram which takes about 5 minutes to reach the airport and runs at least every 10 minutes.
