Itinerary
- Day 1
Vancouver to Whistler
You'll drive north on the Sea to Sky Highway, a route that winds right along the coast with mountains rising up on one side. First stop is Porteau Cove Provincial Park where you can walk along the water and see the rock formations. After that, Shannon Falls comes into view with its dramatic cascade dropping down the cliff face. The drive continues through Britannia Beach, a former mining town that's got some interesting history if you want to stop and poke around. By the time you reach Whistler Village, you'll have covered some really varied scenery. Depending on what you're in the mood for, you could do an ATV tour through the backcountry, try a snowmobile ride if there's snow, take a seaplane flight for views from above, or just relax at one of the spas in the village.

Vancouver to Victoria
Start your day catching the ferry from Tsawwassen to Vancouver Island, which takes a couple hours and gives you time to settle in. Once you arrive in Victoria, head straight to Butchart Gardens where you can walk through the different garden areas and see how they're landscaped. From there, make your way to Craigdarroch Castle, a Victorian mansion that's got all the period details and history. During lunch or after, you can walk around the Inner Harbour area, check out the Victoria Cenotaph, and stroll through Fisherman's Wharf if you want something more casual and local feeling. Vancouver
Your Vancouver day hits the major spots around the city. Start at Canada Place by the waterfront, then head into Gastown to find the historic Steam Clock, which actually works and shoots off steam on the hour. The whole Gastown neighborhood has cobblestone streets and old buildings, so you'll spend time just walking around there. Later, get down to the Vancouver Seawall for a walk or bike ride along the water with water and mountain views. Granville Island Public Market is great for lunch or snacks, and you can browse all the vendor stalls and local goods. Stanley Park is massive, so you'll want to see the totem poles, the Hollow Tree which is a massive old tree, and head up to Prospect Point Lookout for views across the harbor. If you've got energy left, Grouse Mountain offers either a drive or hike to the top, and Capilano Suspension Bridge Park lets you walk across a cable bridge strung between old growth trees.
