Hobart

You'll also walk through the Royal Botanical Gardens. Later on, head to Salamanca Market to taste cheeses, pickles, oysters, truffles, and cider as you wander through the sights and sounds. - Day 3
Hobart to Strahan
Head west to see Russell Falls, a tiered waterfall in Mt. Field National Park, then continue to Lake St. Clair, Australia's deepest natural lake. You'll drive through World Heritage protected Franklin-Gordon Wild Rivers National Park along rainforest roads and pass through the mining town of Queenstown. By evening, you'll reach Strahan on the coast with views of Macquarie Harbour. Dinner is at View 42 Restaurant and Bar in Strahan Village.

Strahan to Cradle Mountain
Spend the morning on a Gordon River cruise with a local specialist, looking out at pristine wilderness from the windows. You'll visit Sarah Island, a former penal colony, and learn about Tasmania's convict history while seeing 3,000-year-old pines. Stop at Hells Gates to see the treacherous harbour entrance. After that, head to the highlands for your accommodation in the alpine forest. Launceston
This morning, explore Launceston's Cataract Gorge by walking around the Basin and suspension bridge or riding the world's longest chairlift for aerial views. Move on to Brickendon Estate, a UNESCO site with a convict farm village tour led by an Archer family member, then have light lunch and tea in the grounds. Visit Josef Chromy Vineyard to sample Pinot Noir and Chardonnay with lake and vineyard views. The afternoon is free to explore the city.

Head to Legerwood Carved Memorial Trees and have lunch in St. Helens. Follow the East Coast to Bicheno, and after dark, take a short walk to see Little Penguins in their natural habitat.

- Day 9
Bicheno to Freycinet
Make sure your camera is charged for today's four-hour boat cruise along Freycinet Peninsula with lunch included. You'll see waterfalls, sea caves, and towering pink granite cliffs, then sail through Schouten Island spotting penguins and shearwaters. The boat anchors at Wineglass Bay for a ploughman's lunch. Watch for sea eagles, dolphins, fur seals, and migrating whales. After that, drive through eucalypt forests to Cape Tourville for brilliant blue water and golden beach views. Pass through Swansea and Triabunna before reaching your hotel overlooking Maria Island.
