Amsterdam to Heidelberg
You'll drive through the Rhine Valley today, seeing quaint villages and castles perched on hilltops. Along the way, you'll learn about the legend of the Lorelei Rock. Later you'll reach Heidelberg, where a Local Expert shows you around the impressive red sandstone castle.

Heading south through the Black Forest toward the Bavarian Alps, you'll stop at Hohenschwangau and Neuschwanstein Castle, which inspired Disney's castle design. After crossing into Austria, you'll reach Innsbruck and explore the Imperial Palace, Golden Roof, and the charming 14th-century Old Town.

You'll travel through the Apennine Mountains and across Tuscany and Umbria, following the Tiber River to Rome. In the afternoon, you'll visit the Basilica of Saint Praxedes to see Byzantine mosaics and Bernini's first sculpture in an exclusive after-hours visit. Later, you'll have dinner at a Roman local's home.

Rome

Early morning you'll cross into Switzerland. You'll visit the Lion Monument, a limestone memorial for the Swiss Guards, then walk across the historic Chapel Bridge and see the ornate Jesuit Church. The afternoon is yours to spend, or you can take an optional cruise on Lake Lucerne.
