Itinerary
- Day 1
Hanoi to Ba Be Lake
Starting around 8 AM from Hanoi's eastern suburbs, you'll head north on your motorcycle to skip the morning city traffic. The ride takes you through Thai Nguyen province where you'll stop in Cho Chu town for lunch. After that, the roads get more scenic as you move into mountain terrain heading toward Ba Be lake. By 4 PM you'll arrive at Pac Ngoi, a peaceful Tay village right on the lake's edge. You'll have dinner and stay overnight with a local Tay family.

- Day 2
Ba Be Lake to Bao Lac
After an early breakfast with your host family, it's a short 1km walk to the pier where a one-and-a-half hour boat cruise takes you around Vietnam's largest natural lake. Back at the village, you'll have lunch with the family. Later in the afternoon, you're back on the bike for some off-road riding through Ba Be National Park, passing through villages and streams. You should reach Bao Lac by 5 PM and check in at your hotel for the night.

- Day 3
Bao Lac to Dong Van
Around 9 AM you'll head out for a more relaxed ride along the Gam river, with green mountains on both sides. Lunch happens in Meo Vac, then things get more intense as you tackle the Ma-Pi-Leng pass, one of the longest and most scenic passes in northern Vietnam. You'll stop several times to take photos of the Dong Van Rock Plateau and the ethnic minority communities living there. By evening you'll reach Dong Van town and settle into your hotel.

Dong Van to Ha Giang
This day shows you the rugged side of northern Vietnam as you ride through remote, mountainous terrain and rural areas. You'll come across various ethnic groups and their different cultures throughout the day. The route includes the Vuong palace in Dong Van and the dramatic 'Heaven Gate' formation in Quan Ba. Late afternoon brings you into Ha Giang where you'll have dinner and spend the night with a local Tay family.

- Day 5
Ha Giang to Lao Cai to Hanoi
After breakfast with your host family, you'll ride smoothly on Road No. 2 for about 40km, then branch onto a smaller and rougher road heading to Pho Rang. The landscape transitions into green mountains mixed with rice fields and ethnic villages scattered throughout. You'll grab lunch in Pho Rang, then continue with easier riding toward Lao Cai. There's a quick stop at the China-Vietnam border before your motorcycles get loaded onto a train at Lao Cai Railway Station. After dinner in town, you'll board the night train back to Hanoi.
