12 days Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh city Excellent experience for 12 of us exploring 2600km on motorbikes in Vietnam. Mountain roads, trails, water crossings, culture, villages and cities, this tour had some of everything. Cong and his crew were AWESOME!! All we had to do was ride and have fun each day, they took care of the rest. Highly recommend Indochina motorbike tours and looking forward to a return trip!

What our customers ask about Motorcycle & Motorbike Tours & Trips
What types of motorcycles are typically provided on these tours?
You'll find different bikes depending on where you're riding. In Vietnam, you'll get a Honda Wave 110cc or Yamaha Nouvo 125cc from companies like DNQ Travel. If you're touring the USA, operators like DERTOUR will set you up with a Harley-Davidson. For mountain routes like the World Highest Lake tour in Nepal, you'll ride specialized bikes like the Honda CRF 250 or Royal Enfield Himalayan 411. One recent traveler said about Vietnam: "The bikes were well-maintained and perfect for navigating both highways and off-road sections."
How many hours of riding should I expect per day?
Most days you'll spend between 4 and 8 hours on your bike, covering 100-250 kilometers (62-155 miles). On the Vietnam Northern Loop, you'll ride 5-6 hours each day with plenty of breaks. The Grand Alps Loop involves about 6-7 hours of riding to cover 180-240 kilometers (112-149 miles). You'll stop regularly for sightseeing, meals, and rest at scenic spots along the way. A recent traveler suggested: "Make sure to take enough breaks to enjoy the scenery and local experiences."
What's the best time of year for motorcycle touring in different regions?
Each region has its sweet spot for riding. Southeast Asian tours in Vietnam and Laos are best from October to March when there's less humidity and rain. In Nepal, plan your Upper Mustang tour for spring (March-May) or autumn (September-November). The monsoon season can be interesting since this area doesn't get much rain. For the Pyrenees, aim for May through September when the mountain passes are clear. One traveler's tip for Vietnam: "Winter months from December are best as roads are drier and temperatures more comfortable for riding."
What's included in terms of accommodation during motorcycle tours?
Your stays will mix comfortable hotels with local homestays. In Vietnam's Ha Giang region, you'll experience authentic stays like the Tay family home near Ba Be Lake. The Pyrenees tour puts you in 2-3 star hotels, including Hotel Lotus in Leh. If you're doing Route 66, expect spots like the Palmer House Hilton in Chicago. Some remote areas have simpler places to stay. One traveler commented about Laos: "hotels and homestays were great and unique." Tours try to balance local character with comfort after long days of riding.
How do weather conditions affect motorcycle tours?
Weather plays a big role in your riding experience. Vietnam's best riding happens from October to March with less rain and temperatures around 20-25°C (68-77°F). During monsoon season (June-August), roads can get slick, especially in mountain areas like Sapa where it can get as cold as 0°C (32°F). Tour operators adjust your route based on weather and make sure you have the right gear for the conditions.
How many riders are typically in a group tour?
Most tours keep groups small, usually between 6 and 12 riders plus guides. Vietnam tours often cap at 8-10 people, while European tours might take up to 12. Smaller groups work better for tricky routes and make it easier to find rooms in remote places like the Riad Lamane in Zagora or Hotel Babylon in Dades Valley. It also means you'll get more attention from your guides.
