  Troll Expeditions requested this review via emailing me at the beginning of the tour. They are a busy crew who have multiple tours on the go at any given time every day and operate from a warehouse in the port area of Reykjavik in Iceland. The experiences offered by Troll are impacted by Icelandic weather, keeping in mind they have hundreds of Icelandic words for their windy conditions! In fact four days of the tour was negatively impacted by the weather. Day 6, and the reason for this review, was cancelled completely and we simply spent the day driving to the next accommodation. Unfortunately Troll will only partially refund the whale watching tour despite the boat operator not requiring payment for their inability to provide the experience due to weather conditions. Furthermore requiring me to reach out through Tour Radar to procure the partial refund. In the past other tour operators I booked through Tour Radar have never even required me to ask for a refund-they simply provided it-but when I didn’t get any communication about the canceled aspect of the tour I emailed Troll Expeditions directly. On day 1 it rained all day and the wet weather gear I rented from Troll for my son was missing the rain hat aspect of the jacket, a functional rain jacket was provided the following day. Another day we rushed through the sights and changed accommodation to stay ahead of a typhoon which meant the following day we spent in the diamond beach car park in a vehicle that lacked charge ports and waited 4 hours for the ice-cave tour operator. The Northern light’s experience are self supplied via walking outside of your accommodation, finding some space that is not affected by town lighting, and looking up at the sky. There is a phone application you can download to be notified of potential Northern Light sightings. We swapped tour guides and some people for day 7 and day 8. Day 7 we had a puncture and the spare tire was flat which meant driving with it until the replacement tire could be obtained, by then it was snowing. Other people on the tour and myself had other interactions with Troll Expeditions customer service staff which don’t reflect well and I would have given this review 3 stars had their customer service and policy reflected a higher regard for us. Finally Iceland is extremely expensive place to eat-meals can cost well over $50 AUD even for soup!

  What a great trip, weather could have been better but we still enjoyed it. Palli our guide/driver is an Icelander so had so much knowledge to impart, plus many humorous antidotes. Good selection of passengers, we made some friends for life.

  Fabulous 8 day winter tour round Iceland, packed with adventures and plenty of photo stops. Our excellent guide John was very informative and kept everyone to a tight schedule so we could maximise how many stops we could take. We had a great time with a lovely group of people and I would definitely recommend it.

  Bad Tour, say 15 peoples max but end up 19 peoples put them all into one small mini bus for 8 days, my hand carry bag need to put on the dirty floor.

  Worth having this tour. We were able to circle Iceland and was fortunate enough to see the Northern Lights 2x. Highlights of the tour for me were Ice Caving, whale watching and Northern Lights.

  This was my first trip ever to Iceland. I was really nervous, because I was a solo tourist traveling to a new place. It was one of the best trips I've ever been on in my life. I went on the 8 day minibus tour around Iceland with a group of 7 other travelers and a tour guide. My group had a very good dynamic, and we bonded over the period of the trip. It made the activities and places we ventured to a lot more fun, and I felt safe the entire time. I'd just recommend to be prepared for a bit of walking and try to exercise a bit before your trip starts. It definitely helps since Iceland's environment is very rugged, and some of the natural wonders on the tour do require some walking. Also, bring warm layers and good boots, especially for the winter months. In November, sunlight hours were very short, with sunset around 4pm. My group and I were very lucky with weather until the last 2 days of the trip, which had a lot of rain and wind near Snaefellsness peninsula.

  Troll Expeditions and our guide, Palli, set the standard for participatory touring around Iceland. We had a wonderful 8 day tour of important sights, and we were informed and entertained throughout the time. The climb on the glacier and the whale watch boat were the highlights.

  WOW! I can only say great things about my 8 day Ring Road minibus tour of Iceland. Tour Radar(TR #91986) and Troll Expeditions (TE182993) had a 24 hour telephone service and were able to answer all my pretrial questions in a timely manner Erik our driver is also a topnotch guide. He is charming, very knowledgeable about Iceland and many other things. He was extremely helpful...a delightful man. My 17 fellow travelers from many different countries were fun and sociable. I was the oldest in the group (79) and they all took care of me, my suitcase and technology. The van was very beautiful and comfortable.. there were even phone chargers in the ceiling. We took frequent restroom stops and there were great windows for taking pictures from the bus.

  Was better than expected. The tour guide John was super helpful and did way beyond what we expected. Took care of all of us. I highly recommend Troll Expeditions for Iceland tour. It is definitely worth the cost, may be even cheaper than doing self tour. The different hotels we stayed for seven nights were of reasonable quality.

  Iceland was our dream destination and our spring season tour was amazing. We were picked up from our hotel at Reykjavik by our Guide/Driver Oscar. It was perfect 8 days tour around Iceland (Golden circle tour) from beginning to end. ‘TROLL’ is well organized with tour itinerary covering all aspects and region of Iceland. Oscar was our guide for 8 days. He was calm, very friendly, fantastic, likeable and clearly passionate about the landmarks he showed to us. He was an outstanding person with thorough knowledge of Iceland history and the places we visited. On the first day, he found some problem in our mini bus, he didn’t give us any trouble instead he arranged another vehicle at night on the same day after dropping us to the hotel and continued with the tour without affecting our tour itinerary. We truly enjoyed! Six of us touring together belong to different countries and culture; it was a wonderful experience and we all mingled together easily and Oscar made us comfortable by fulfilling all our needs on time. Iceland is beautiful and the Sceneries, Glacier Mountains, Geysers, Erupted Lava from Volcanoes, Diamond & Black sand Beaches and Stunning Waterfalls were adorable. Whole environment looks fresh, peaceful and beautiful, where rainbows are visible, which adds color bringing us hope, happiness and a sense of excitement & wonder! The atmosphere in our bus is so special that it really felt like we are from one family. All respect & honor goes to Oscar who did a great job! Hat’s off to Mr. Oscar! He is a valuable tour guide, and we highly recommend our 8 days Golden circle tour especially along with tour guide Oscar. Truly, the entire trip was awesome & unforgettable one!!!
