Itinerary

  1. Day 1

    Marrakech to Essaouira

You'll get picked up from Marrakech and driven to Essaouira on the Atlantic Coast. The drive takes you through changing landscapes until you reach this charming coastal town. Once there, the afternoon is yours to wander around at your own pace. Head down to the beach to watch fishermen bring in their catch, or check out the busy port. You could also just sit back and take in the town's relaxed vibe and salty sea air.

The old fort ramparts offer great views and a bit of history. If you're interested in local crafts, the thuya wood workshops show traditional techniques passed down through generations. The town also has interesting history and a lively arts scene worth checking out on your own.

After eating breakfast, you'll head back to Marrakech. Once you arrive and settle in, the afternoon gives you time to start exploring the city's souks and markets. The narrow passages are packed with shops and stalls. My family (wife and 3 children ages 14, 10, 9) and I had an absolutely wonderful trek to the top of Toubkal. Communication from View Morocco before and during the trip was excellent. Transfer from Marrakesh was slick and we were picked up in a nice air conditioned 7 seater. Our accommodation in Imlil was comfortable, clean and friendly serving traditional Moroccan breakfast. Big thanks to our guide Rashid who was excellent. He was patient and set the pace just right - at no point did we feel hurried or under pressure to go faster. The trek is tough especially in the energy sapping heat of Aug. Rashid was great with the kids and my 9 year old son seemed to really take to him. I'd absolutely do this again and might consider one of the extended treks encompassing more peaks next time. Big thanks to the View Morocco team for looking after us :)
