During the month of January, the trip operates only up to Kirindy. Unfortunately, access to Bekopaka is not possible due to seasonal conditions. However, I would be happy to propose an alternative route that still offers an enriching experience and allows you to explore the best of Madagascar during this period.

Overall, the tour met my expectations, and the tour company was very good in responding to my messages. The driver, Maru, was prompt in picking me up from the airport and dropping me off for my return flight. He was an excellent driver, but due to his limited English language skills, he could not give me detailed information about Madagascar's history, culture, politics, and people, and so we spent long drives quietly. The city tour of Antsirabe, and Lemur sighting in the Anja Valley and Ranomofana National Park were good. Out of the 3 hotels I stayed on this tour, the Anja Valley Lodge and Hotel Thermal at Ranomofana National Park were very good. Those two hotels had A/C and the food was very good. The Royal Palace Hotel in Antsirabe, where I stayed 2 nights did not have A/C and the food was mediocre at best. If I had a choice, I would not stay at this hotel again. I was aware of the poor road conditions in Madagascar (which neither the tour company nor the driver had any control over), but I am a seasoned traveler and I was able to manage the long and slow drives through pothole-filled roads and other travelers must be aware of this and not be surprised. Overall, I had a good tour and have already recommended it to many of my friends.Show more

Review of my trip through Gambia and Senegal from December 23, 2025 to January 01, 2026 I was picked up on time by guide and driver Mr. Ansu Jawara who accompanied me excellently throughout the 10-day trip. He was a very enthusiastic birdwatcher and because of his knowledge he was called '"Professor" by colleagues. He was happy to have me as a photographer because he was in the process of setting up a Website and many fine photos I took he may use for this. Where internet was not available I was able to share my phone with him. I had not managed to activate the E-sim of TourRadar. The accommodations were adequate by African standards, except for the two nights in Senegal where the accommodations looked neglected and electricity was not always available. Not even a chair was available in the cabin. The food was good there, by the way, as well as at other locations. Twice the guide himself had arranged a picnic lunch and it tasted excellent. He also always had plenty of bottles of water in the car. The excursions were of a high standard where the guide managed to find many interesting local places. One serious drawback was the quality of the approx 25 year old Peugeot 206. It showed serious starting problems where the car had to be pushed five times with assistance. Along the way a shock absorber was rattled loose after which the car made an uncontrolled movement. After repairs we were able to continue. On the last day the alternator was replaced, but it did not work so we ended up with a dead battery. After contacting the office, the car was exchanged by a Mercedes so that I was dropped off at Banjul airport on time. Unfortunately, due to weather conditions there, the flight to Schiphol was cancelled and we were put up in Hotel Relax. With luck, I was able to fly back to Schiphol the next day.   I'm already planning to take a tour from Antananarivo to Ifaty in late December. But I was looking at options afterwards. It seems like the options might be a bit limited because of the weather in that time of year.

  You can choose to visit the Red Tsingy, as it is accessible year-round. However, if you are open to flying into Bekopaka, the tour can still be completed. Please note that during the rainy season, there is no overland access to Bekopaka from Morondava.

The final payment of the remaining balance is required at least 100 days prior to the departure date of your tour.
