You'll arrive in Munich and check into your 4-star hotel. After settling in, there's a welcome briefing where you'll go over your route documentation and get oriented for the hiking week ahead.

Munich to Schäftlarn
Starting south from Munich, you'll hike along the Isar river valley, passing by a zoo and catching final views of the city. The trail takes you through forests as you head toward Schäftlarn monastery, which has an inn and beer garden where you can stop.

Schäftlarn to Herrsching/Diessen
A short transfer gets you to Starnberg, Bavaria's sailing and spa destination. From there, you hike through the Maisinger Schlucht gorge to reach Maisingersee lake, then continue climbing to Andechs monastery with nice lake views. You'll either walk down to Ammersee lake or take a boat to Diessen.

Herrsching/Diessen to Weilheim
You'll walk across flowering meadows and through Stiller Wald forest, passing Augustinerstift Diessen along the way. The route takes you over hilltops with good views toward Wessobrunn monastery, then through quiet field and forest paths into Weilheim. This is where you enter the Pfaffenwinkel region, known for its pilgrimage churches.

Weilheim to Peißenberg
Following the Way of St. James from Weilheim, you'll pass through the monastery village of Polling and walk along the Ammer River. After crossing hills near Berghof toward Peißenberg, you'll climb up to Hoher Peißenberg for views of the Zugspitze and the Tyrolean and Allgäu mountains.

Peißenberg to Buching
Starting with a hike through Ammerschlucht gorge, you'll reach Rottenbuch, the main town here with a monastery worth your time. Following the Pfaffenwinkler Milchweg, you'll go through the mill-village Wildsteig to Wieskirche, a UNESCO World Heritage pilgrimage church. Then you'll walk on boardwalks through Wiesfilz bog to Steingaden before taking a short bus to Buching.

Departure
