  We had the pleasure of a Kanzwa short holiday break excursion - 2 Nights Safari Tour to Kafue National park. This was at the end of a nearly two week stay in Zambia. I can’t recommend highly enough the staff at Lochinvar. Our guide Fines was full of knowledge, not only about ALL of the animals but local culture and Zambian history. He could not have been more helpful at all times and was always thinking one step ahead for us. Chimuka, our driver to and from Lusaka was always happy smiley and ready with a joke and his driving was very relaxing until you hit the roads with the “African massage”. Not his fault. Our safari driver Dominic has the driest sense of humour known to man. Quietly hilarious, but what a safari driver, getting us into all the best spots for viewing the amazing wildlife. Lastly but my no means least, Angela and her amazing food wow. Beautifully cooked African quisine all supplied by Lochnivar. Thank you guys. The memories will stay with us forever.Show more

  Great opportunity to have a proper safari experience in Kafue NP even with little available time. Elefants, Hippos and Buffalos abound, and there's a chance to see lions or leopards. Also great for birdwatching. Staff and Tour guides were very friendly and accommodating.Show more

  Really enjoyed my three day/two night Karfue National Park tour with this team. If you’re after personal, customised service, then these guys will be able to help you. The park itself is enormous… Probably best combined with one of the other more “animals on tap” parks like Chobe or South Luangwa. Mark went out of his way to make sure I had a good in-depth look at the more remote sections of the park which is very beautiful and very under touristed. Instead of rigid to game drives, we spent the whole day doing several of the Park game circuits which I really appreciated. Accommodation at the lodge was not great, but adequate and much better than paying three or four times as much at a luxury lodge to do the same daytime activities. Overall, a great option for the value, seeking Traveler – you won’t regret it.Show more

  This was a quick little tour to get out of Lusaka, see a bit of rural Zambia and visit a national park. I messaged the tour company and managed to join another solo traveler for this tour. We were picked up in Lusaka and I'm glad there weren't more of us since it was a bit of tight fit for us, the driver, the guide, and our cook in the SUV. The drive was pleasant and we stopped at the border of the national park to pick up supplies. However, when we arrived at our lodgings, they were not quite what was described in the brochure. The tents and beds were comfortable and we were right along the river next to the hippos. However, there was no restaurant, lounge, bar, wifi, or electricity as promised in the original description. Our guide dropped us off mid-afternoon with a couple of water bottles and disappeared for almost 24 hours. There wasn't a lot to do at camp or even anywhere comfortable to sit and hang out so I wish we had been given the option for a sunset game drive or something. Our cook was wonderful though and made sure we were well fed! We were picked up at 6 am the next morning by a game driver from another camp and we drove primarily around the Game Management Area rather than the National Park. We saw a couple of elephants, some puku, warthogs, and impala. No cats unfortunately. Our guide and driver returned around that afternoon and took us over to the other camp to do the boat tour. That camp did have a restaurant and lounge area along with different activities available so really I would have preferred staying there. We had dinner that night and returned to Lusaka the next day. Overall, it was a good experience and a nice getaway for the weekend but I wish I had been a little more prepared for the accomodation and amount of downtime. We also were a little worried when our guide did not return for the night and hadn't told us when he and the driver would be back. I'm very glad that I had someone else on the trip with me!Show more

  The 3-day tour from Lusaka to Kafue National Park was an unforgettable experience. It is a good trip to do if you are short on time at the beginning or end of a visit to Zambia, to give you a flavour of the bush and the sounds, smells and sights away from the cities. The group was small: tour leader, driver, cook and two individual travellers, that allowed for some flexibility, e.g with regards to the time to return. We had a tent each with really comfortable beds, on a campsite right by the river, and could see and hear the hippos nearby! The boat tour in the late afternoon especially was very memorable. Unfortunately, there were a few issues with the tour - we were downgraded from a camp to a campsite, so there was no bar and little opportunity to meet other travellers. The tour guide disappeared for nearly a full day without telling us in advance, and a few of the advertised options disappeared off the schedule. If I did this tour again, I would make sure to communicate and agree well in advance exactly which of the optional extras I would want to do (e.g. a hike, or a visit to a village). But with all those issues in mind, I still think this is a great tour to a less-overrun national park and have a lot of wonderful memories. Thank you Mark, Brian and Martha!Show more
