It was a really great trip, you really shouldn't underestimate the altitude.

Hi Mario, we are glad to hear that you enjoyed the trip so much! Yeah, altitude sickness is as inconvenient as it is unpredictable. Unfortunately, you have to follow the tips if you want to experience the amazing crossing of La Puna desert, and the wondrous Uyuni saltflats, as smoothly as possible.

Thank you for your honest feedback Marco, we’re glad you enjoyed parts of the experience, especially the Salt Hotel and the support from your guide. We sincerely apologize for the missing immigration link and the lack of information about currency exchange. You're absolutely right — it’s important to know in advance that Bolivian currency should be obtained in San Pedro, and we’ll make sure this is clearly stated in future booking confirmations. We also appreciate your comments about the hostels. We'll review the room arrangements in Aji Verde and the beds in Villa Mar with our local partners to ensure better comfort and space management for future travelers. Thank you again for sharing your experience — it helps us improve.

Thank you for your feedback Orell, we're very glad to hear you enjoyed the tour overall and had a great experience with the team in San Pedro and on the journey to Uyuni. We do apologize for the confusion regarding the Calama transfer. While we try to accommodate various arrival methods, transfers are typically scheduled from the airport unless otherwise confirmed in advance. We understand this caused inconvenience, and we’ll work to make our communication clearer going forward. It’s great to hear everything ran smoothly once the tour began, thanks again for traveling with us!

Thank you so much for your feedback Chris, we truly appreciate you taking the time to share your experiences, negative as some of them may be. We’re very happy to hear that you enjoyed the scenery and felt safe with your driver, and it's great to know his dedication didn’t go unnoticed. That said, we’re very sorry to hear that the condition of the vehicle and the overall logistics did not meet your expectations. Safety and comfort are top priorities for us, so your comments about the seatbelts and brakes are concerning and will be reviewed with our local partners immediately. We’re especially sorry that the accommodation and meals were not up to standard, these remote areas do pose logistical challenges, although the issues were very clear on the tour description. All in all, we're taking this very seriously and will be working hard to ensure future travelers have a smoother and more comfortable experience.

I want to ask if oxygen is provided if necessary.

    • Hi Travel ArgentinaOperatorWritten March 2026

yes there is oxigen available but for extreme cases. If you follow the guidelines, your body will slowly adapt to altitude and you may get a bit unconfortable when you reach 4.900 m. On the other hand, if you or your companion have any heart condition or high blood pressure, we reccommend to talk to a doctor before deciding to sign up for a trip like this.

About what time on the last day will we be arriving at La Paz?

    • Hi Travel ArgentinaOperatorWritten March 2026

the 3 nights in San Pedro are on your own, so you can ask for an extra night if you prefer to stay 4 nights. We give you the transfer from Calama at any time you arrive, then 3 nights in San Pedro (we can add 1 night) and then the Geisers tour on day 3 or the itinerary to get used to altitude and then on day 4m the overland tour begins, We pick you up from the accomodation and go to the desert in Bolivia. You will arrive to La Paz at about 6 or 7 am. If you stay in shared dorm: 24 usd, Hosgtel DBL:31 usd, Hotel DBL: 88 USD

    Asked on January 24th, 2026

I would be booking this trip alone. I thought I saw in the brochure that it was a minimum of two people, but on the website it is allowing me to sign up for a booking alone. Would I be able to book as a single guest?

    Group size
    • Hi Travel ArgentinaOperatorWritten January 2026

Yes you you can book the trip for you alone. You can choose Shared Dorm in a Hostel or SGL room in a hostel.
Upon arrival from Calama, a shuttle will take you to your hostel in San Pedro de Atacama. There you will spend 3 nights in a shared dorm or in a single room upon choise. (price is different).
After your nights in San Pedro, the Overland tour will take you to Uyuni, crossing the High Plateau and the Salt Flat in a 3 days / 2 nights adventure. The 4WD car is for up to 6 customers.
When arriving to Uyuni, you will take a night bus to end up this part of the trip in La Paz.

How does the self-guided tour work? Are we driving the cars ourself or are we being driven but there isn't a guide that is explaining?

    Tour Details
    Transport
    • Hi Travel ArgentinaOperatorWritten September 2025

The tour does not work like a group tour with a guide, but everything is pre organized and pre booked for you. It is an independent trip but in this case it is mixed as the overland part from San Pedro to Uyuni is in small groups of up to 6 travelers.

    • Hi Travel ArgentinaOperatorWritten September 2025

Overland is: there is a driver but no one is explaining. The landscape is so awesome that you dont really miss the explanation. Only advise: tour reaches very high altitude and you need to take certain measures to diminish the symptoms of altitude sickness.

Yes, we can arrange for this tour to start on December 28, we just have to check availability first. But you should know that we don't work with group tours nor do we have a guide/coordinator for the whole trip. Different guides for different tours included. Tour Details
    • Hi Travel ArgentinaOperatorWritten April 2025

We don't have the whole tour in small groups. We can tailor make it for you. In La Paz and Uyuni town, you will be on your own. From Uyuni to San Pedro, if you join the small group, accomodation will be in a Salt Hostel and in a comunal hostel in Villamar or in Laguna Colorada. In San Perdro, on your own again. If your idea is to stay in 3* hotels instead of hostels during the Uyuni - San Pedro Overland, then the tur woll be in private just for you 2, at a higher price.
