Itinerary
- Day 1
Santillana del Mar
You'll get picked up from Santander or Bilbao airport and head to Santillana del Mar, a medieval village where you'll get a bike introduction and route briefing. After that, the rest of the day is yours to wander the cobbled streets, check out the Altamira Caves museum, or cycle through country lanes down toward the coast.

- Day 2
Santillana del Mar to San Vicente
You'll cycle westward through green meadows and valleys in Cantabria heading toward the coast. The route takes you through Novales, set among lemon groves, then to the seaside village of Comillas where you can visit the beach, harbour, and see El Capricho by Gaudí plus the Palace of the Marqués de Comillas. From there you'll continue through Parque Natural de Oyambre along beautiful beaches with views of San Vicente and the Picos de Europa in front of you.

- Day 3
San Vicente
This is a day to spend time in San Vicente, a pretty fishing village with lots of seafood restaurants and a nice coastal setting. You have options here: cycle local routes for free, head to the mountain village of Carmona, take a train to Llanes in Asturias, or just relax on the beach.

San Vicente to Llanes
You'll cycle westward along the coast around Pechón headland with great views, then cross the River Deva at Unquera to enter Asturias. After passing through Colombres with its distinctive villas built by returned emigrants, the route continues between the coast and the Sierra de Cuera mountains. You'll descend through eucalyptus forests back to the coast, passing quiet beaches before reaching Llanes.

Llanes
From Llanes you'll cycle westward visiting several nice beaches, including Gulpiyuri which sits landlocked from the sea. If cycling isn't your focus that day, you can explore hills and valleys near Llanes, go canoeing on the Deva or Sella Rivers, hike through the Cares Gorge in the Picos de Europa, or take a train to Ribadasella to see the Caves of Tito Bustillo. Llanes itself has a lively atmosphere and is popular with Spanish tourists.

- Day 6
Llanes to Somo
After breakfast you'll transfer to the Cantabrian Mountains at 822 metres (3,757 feet) and begin a descent through the limestone Miera Valley. The cycle takes you down through farmland toward Somo and the Bay of Santander. You'll pass through the mountain village of San Roque de Riomiera and the spa village of Liérganes with its historic old quarter.

Somo
You'll spend time at Somo beach with its long stretches of sand. There's an optional short boat ride across the Bay if you want to visit Santander, the capital of Cantabria, where you can see the belle époque atmosphere of El Sardinero beach resort and the town centre for shopping. If that doesn't appeal, you have free day routes to nearby beaches like Loredo or Langre, can cycle through country lanes to Ajo (known for paellas), check out the Nature Park of Cabárceno with wildlife and unusual scenery from its past as a Roman mine, or eat fresh grilled sardines at seaside restaurants in Pedreña.
