  Our 14 days Kenya-Tanzania, organized by Mary at Gilmag Safaris, was absolutely spectacular, far surpassing even our highest expectations. This trip was the best vacation I’ve had up to date. We found Gilmag Safaris randomly online. When booking a trip for Africa who knows where to start? I am glad we found Gilmag. Mary will probably learn reading this review that I was in discussion with 3 other tour operators during the planning stage. Not only was Mary more responsive than the others but her trip was the best value as well. I’m happy that Mary recommended that we visit 3 different parks (Kenya – Masai Mara, Naivasha and Amboseli. Tanzania – Serengeti, Ngorongoro and Tarangire) in both countries - both were wonderful but had differences and we saw all of the big 5 and experienced so many amazing sights Preparation and organization was excellent, every day a highlight, all things were safe. We had a wonderful experience in the planning of our Safari and had an absolutely FANTASTIC holiday! I wish I could relive this exact trip again and again because it was perfectly curated and so much fun. Much appreciation to our tour guides Amos and Nickson. We love Tanzania and highly recommend it as a must do destination.Show more

  We were very pleased with Gilmag Safaris and Mary in particular who has been amazing! She was so patient with us while going through all the various options in order to plan our trip. Her insights were invaluable in making the right choices of where to stay and things to do. Mary was always available even after working hours or weekends to help with everything we needed! She was truly fantastic. Everything went smoothly and Mary was there to help with changes when needed. The attention and service was excellent at all times, from the planning of the trip to the return home. We had an amazing time throughout the whole trip with our tour guide, Erick. He was relatively young, but so knowledgeable and we could tell that he loves what he does. At every accommodation that we stayed, the food was wonderful and we were served like royalty. The payment process was easy and I appreciated the option of paying online by credit card instead of having to wire funds. We strongly recommended Gilmag Safaris. We are going to be back very soon!Show more

  I was absolutely satisfied with the whole organization and execution of the trip. Gilmag Safaris staff were so hospitable. The trip was Very well planned and prepared The 4WD vehicle was always clean and comfortable. The lodges were all very nice and well selected. Gilmag Safaris’ services were remarkable. The prices were affordable and a wonderful surprise when I arrived at my accommodations; with friendly staff and lovely food. I can't say enough about how helpful they were. For the tour, I had a private guided tour for 8 days. The tour guide, Nickson, was clearly experienced. His vehicle was super clean, neat and in perfect working order. I was travelling solo, and spent the 8 days with Nickson, driving, eating, chatting, enjoying the scenery and companionable silences. I visited Kilimanjaro, Tarangire, Ngorongoro, Ndutu and Serengeti. My guide, Nickson, was outstanding!!! His knowledge of the parks, the wildlife (especially birds) and the local culture was fantastic. I highly recommend Gilmag Safaris. Don’t hesitate to book with Gilmag Safaris.Show more

  My wife, son and I had the experience of a lifetime with Gilmag Safaris during our fifteen-day tour of Arusha, Tarangire, Manyara, Ngorongoro, Serengeti and Zanzibar. All correspondence before, during, and after our tour was timely, personal and professional. Every moment; from my first email, to my constant, "what if we did this", to even the ‘I HOPE YOU LANDED SAFELY BACK HOME’ ... this level of caring only comes from people who love their country and love to make sure everyone who comes there has the time of their lives.. Mary worked with us to tailor the tour and it was wonderful. Nickson was the crown jewel of the tour—polite, incredibly informative, very intelligent and friendly in his conversation and explanations; helpful beyond any reasonable expectation. He met us at the Kilimanjaro International airport with a big smile which never left. He is also an excellent driver. The accommodations chosen by Gilmag Safaris were wonderful; beautiful facilities, hospitable and excellent staffs. We’ll always remember the tour with fondness and we’ll never forget our guide, Nickson. Without Gilmag’s precise planning, time management, connections, and passion for Tanzania, we would have missed many learning opportunities.   What an amazing experience this trip was! I have been wanting to do this for a while and a work trip to Tanzania gave me that kick to finally do it. Me being a planner, I researched a lot of tour companies and Gilmag Safaris received overwhelming positive feedback. Everything was very thoughtfully planned, from pick-up time and what to expect through on arrival, to sleeping accommodations, dining, etc. Nickson, our tour guide while in Tanzania, was fantastic. He was so knowledgeable and was very patient with us and the hundreds of questions that were asked. During the tours he gave us plenty of time to explore the local markets, Tanzanite Experience, which was greatly appreciated. From a scale of 1 to 10, the trip itself was a 10, but Nickson made it a 15! Over the course of our 8 days trip, with his wit, wisdom, encyclopedic knowledge, care, compassion, and sense of humor, Nickson became family. If you are fortunate enough to get Nickson as your guide, you are in for a special treat. In Serengeti, I would highly recommend staying at Tanzania Pure Tented Camp and not a hotel. It is set in a beautiful location and the tents are very comfortable and showers are more than adequate. I would definitely recommend Gilmag Safaris, and thank you, Nickson, for sharing your amazing country with us!Show more

  We spent 7 days in Tanzania on our first international trip as boyfriend and girlfriend. It was amazing! At first, it seemed too expensive, but afterwards, we realized how much value we got out of it and how much we were able to see and learn with our guide who knew exactly where to take us and pretty much was a Tanzania encyclopedia for that matter. By the time we landed at the airport, our tour guide, Nickson was already waiting in the arrivals area with the sign. We had a free day before our tour started and Gilmag Safaris provided a full day, private tour of Arusha City. Every pickup was on time and effortless. Everyone spoke clear English and was easy to understand. What an experience!!! Great culture. Great experience. But what made it so enjoyable and such a great experience is Mary. She owns the company and serves you like no other can. Nice, outgoing, modern safari vehicle and great service. You are safe and secure with this company. Overall, we had a great experience; the wonderful sights and sounds of Ngorongoro and Serengeti Parks. Best customer service I've experienced in a very long time. 100% recommended!Show more

  We contacted different tour companies to see who could create a custom itinerary for me. Mary stepped up to the task and put together a wonderful itinerary covering some of the major attractions/experiences we wanted to see and do. During planning, Mary was very responsive over e-mail and WhatsApp to all my questions. We took 8 days safari to Kilimanjaro, Tarangire, Ngorongoro and Serengeti with many stops in between. We had a great time. The driving was safe and solid, we stayed on schedule. The accommodations were comfortable and high value; and included breakfast, lunch and dinner. During game drives, we had bottled mineral water, hot tea and coffee. The guides (Abu, Freddy and Nickson) were incredibly helpful in every respect, and willing to accommodate anything. It was my first time in Tanzania, and it was the best choice with Gilmag Safaris. Everything went perfect, we had so much fun and could experience so many things...the country is rich in wildlife, history, culture and with the guys (Abu, Freddy and Nickson) it was great. 14 other people were with me and all of them could tell the same, they loved it. Excellent trip! Excellent people! Excellent experience! It was amazing and the organization was perfect! Unforgettable trip! Sincerely I recommend this Company. We will go back and choose them again! We chose Gilmag Safaris on the basis of TripAdvisor and Google reviews. It was an extraordinary trip in magical places. We felt safe and cared for at every step. The price was fair compared with prices we received from other companies. This local based tour company is well knowledgeable of Africa and provides a professional service to the clients in terms of places of interest. The Masai Mara and Serengeti were a dream and these were the best days of my life. Both our tour guides (Christopher and Nickson) from Kenya and Tanzania were extremely knowledgeable. They were the best and made our dream safari come true. I will be recommending Gilmag Safaris to anyone who listens.   The first thing I must mention is the level of professionalism at Gilmag Safaris. The tour was completely tailored to our desires. Lots of little extras!!! We recently had 9 days in Tanzania and wanted to make the most of it. We were referred to Gilmag Safaris who put together a customized itinerary which included picking us up at the airport, transferring us to our hotel in Arusha and the safari itself. Gilbert who picked us from the airport was super welcoming and knowledgeable during the entire trip. In a sea of tour providers and options, Gilmag Safaris stands out from the crowd. We had an amazing African trip and returned back with great memories. We had a blast. I would high recommend Gilmag Safaris.   Where do I begin writing a review on the most memorable trip of my life! I worked with Mary to develop a private tour with a custom itinerary for the 9 nights, 10 days that I was there. She made recommendations and accommodated my suggestions. I was provided options for accommodations along the way and they were all top notch. I especially like that my bucks went to a local company and stayed in Tanzania. Gilmag Safaris customized a tour just for us. We relied on their expertise for what to see and how to see it and were not disappointed. Everyone we met was friendly, helpful and polite. Gilbert is the best guide! He knows the country inside and out, from the best restaurants to the hidden gems off the beaten path. Gilbert was great, his patience amazing, was always prepared, intuitive and thoughtful of our needs. He always knew the best spot for a picture, coffee or toilet!
