Itinerary
- Day 1
Paro
You'll arrive in Paro on Druk Air or Bhutan Airlines, coming from Kathmandu, Bangkok, Singapore, or Delhi. The flight itself gives you beautiful views of mountains and the surrounding landscape. Once you're through visa formalities, your guide will meet you and take you to your hotel. If there's time before evening, you can walk around the local market.

- Day 2
Paro
After breakfast, you'll drive north to Ramthangka and then head up to Taktsang Monastery, known as Tiger's Nest. The legend says Guru Rinpoche arrived here riding on a tigress and meditated at this sacred spot. Plan for about 5 hours for the round-trip trek. On the way back to Paro town, you'll stop at Kyichu Lhakhang, one of the oldest and most sacred shrines in the kingdom.

- Day 3
Paro to Genekha
After breakfast, you'll drive 45 minutes to where the trek starts. Then you'll begin hiking along off-road trails for 3 to 5 hours, going uphill through terraced fields surrounded by coniferous trees. You'll reach a school signboard at Genekha, and that's where you'll set up camp for the night at 2,800 meters elevation.

- Day 4
Genekha
This morning focuses on the alpine environment with good chances to spot different birds and wildlife. After two hours of walking uphill, you'll reach a large rock platform with great views of the valley. Your campsite sits in the woods, which gives you the afternoon to explore nearby areas. You'll camp at 3,350 meters elevation, and the total walking time comes to about 4 to 5 hours.

- Day 5
Dagala Range
You'll trek over a bridge surrounded by wild mountain vegetation. When it's spring, the meadows fill with flowers along the route. From the pass, you get to see views of the Dagala range. At 6 to 7 hours of walking, you'll reach camp at 4,300 meters elevation next to a lake full of golden trout.

Landmarks Dagala Range - Day 6
Dagala Lakes
This is a day built for taking it easier and doing optional activities. You can visit three lakes: Relitso, Hentso, and Jamatso. Spend time relaxing and enjoying the countryside. If you're still feeling strong, there's the option to climb Jomo Peak at 5,050 meters for views of the Himalayas. Trout fishing is available if you bring your own gear. You'll stay camped at the same location.

Dagala Range Descent
The day starts with 30 minutes of climbing, then transitions to a long descent with great Himalayan views. Your guide will point out the different peaks as you go. You'll walk through meadows, shrubs, and past lakes on the way down to camp at 4,000 meters elevation. The total walking time is about 4 to 5 hours.

- Day 8
Thimphu
You'll trek through multiple passes, each one more impressive than the last. In June and July, look for different kinds of Blue Poppy, which is Bhutan's national flower. After lunch, an hour of climbing takes you to the end of the Dagala range where you can see Thimphu valley spread below. Then it's an hour down to camp at 3,050 meters elevation. Walking takes 6 to 7 hours. In the evening, you'll see Tashichhodzong, a beautiful medieval fortress and monastery that holds most government offices and the King's throne room.

- Day 9
Thimphu to Paro
You'll spend the morning seeing Thimphu's sights. Check out the Institute of Zorig Chusum where students learn Bhutan's 13 traditional arts and crafts. The National Library has a huge collection of Buddhist texts and manuscripts from several hundred years back, along with modern books on Himalayan culture and religion. You'll also see the Post Office, the National Memorial Chorten built to honor the late 3rd King Jigme Dorji Wangchuck, and Kuensel Phodrang with its Giant Buddha, a 50 plus meter statue on a hilltop looking over the city. Later, you'll drive 1 hour to Paro.

Paro Departure
After breakfast, you'll check out of your hotel and head to Paro Airport for your onward flight back to Kathmandu, Bangkok, Singapore, or Delhi.
