Hi Barbara, first of all nobody changed your itinerary. Your itinerary was customized and a traditional naming ceremony was added. When you look at this itinerary you booked now there is no traditional naming ceremony that means your itinerary was customized as discussed. Two hotel mentioned in the package was the same hotel had. All breakfast was provided but the fact you were asked by a waiter for payment of breakfast is nothing. The Guide paid all for you. You never paid for any breakfast! Norma Hamilton has a review on the same tour and was 1 of the 3 people in the group has given this tour a 5* reviews and the person too has given a 5*. I understand everybody have the views of things. We will improve ourselves as a tour operating company to serve all people well that book with us.

What about Awukudae festival in Kumasi? I've heard that it may be celebrated on 12 August? Are there usually celebrations in the streets with different ethnic groups? Or is it a more private celebration? I mean, is it worth going to Kumasi this specific day only to see it?

    • Olives Travel & Tour GhanaOperatorWritten March 2026

Yes, your dates align well with the Awukudae Festival in Kumasi on 12 August. With a domestic morning flight from Accra to Kumasi, you can attend the Awukudae ceremony at the palace, followed by a guided Kumasi city tour, including key cultural and historical sites. You would then take an evening flight back to Accra to comfortably continue the rest of your tour. This approach allows you to experience the significance of the festival while also making the most of your time in Ghana. We regularly organize this type of day trip, and it works very well logistically.
