June is a great time to climb Kilimanjaro, as it marks the beginning of Tanzania's dry season, when you can generally expect fine and sunny weather. Please bear in mind that temperatures can become very cold at higher altitudes, particularly at night, with temperatures falling below freezing as you approach the summit.

I am considering a climbing trip in a year. I am a 68 year old man (69 at the time of the trip) and would like some insight on if this might be feasible for me. I am in pretty good health and on zero medications. I will be training for this year to improve cardio and leg strength. Do you have precious successful (reaching the peak) experiences with people with my profile?

The guides were very committed to getting us to the summit and their advice, and slow pace of walking really helped. My one concern is for the future of the mountain. The camps were quite poor from the point of view of litter, and very poor state of the toilets. I think they were so bad that a lot of people just user the edge of camp. Some investment from the Tanzanians, to improve toilets and better manage the campsites would pay dividends I think.Show more
