Is this a backpacking trip? Do participants carry all of the equipment or does it get transported from camp to camp? Or the camp is the same every night?

    • Wildland TrekkingOperatorWritten August 2023

Yes, this is a true backpacking trip. Each guest will carry their own pack weighing ~35-40lbs, and we do move camp each night.

  • B

    Benjamin

    Asked on July 18th, 2023

Is there a place or way to store non-hiking luggage for the trip, as I'm not a local and would like to spend a few days around Olympia & Seattle, without having to wear dirty hiking clothes around the cities?

    • Wildland TrekkingOperatorWritten July 2023

The best place to store extra luggage is with your pre- and post-trip hotel in Olympia. They are usually pretty cool about it if you ask in advance. We recommend the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Olympia; if you tell them you're a Wildland guest they should be able to offer a discount.

    Natasha

    Asked on June 15th, 2023

When is the best time to go? was thinking about September 17. Don't want it to be too hot or too cold. Is it pretty cool during the Summer up there?

    Tour Details
    • Wildland TrekkingOperatorWritten June 2023

Temperatures can be 10-15 degrees colder in September compared to August. Average temperatures in mid September are low 30 degrees to mid 40 degrees at night (we will be providing the proper rated sleeping bags) and low 60's to low 70 degrees during the day. August is more mid 40 to mid 50 degrees at night and high 60 to high 70 degrees during the day.

I decided to go on July 23 but I'm by myself and your site doesn't allow me to book for one even though brochure says you have single tents.

    • Wildland TrekkingOperatorWritten June 2023

We do have a space for you on the July 23-26 Enchanted Valley Trip. You do not need to share a tent and are allowed to book this trip as a solo traveler. We are working with TourRadar to fix this issue in their system.

just wondering how heavy is the camping gear, as I will be carrying them around?

    Tour Details
    • Wildland TrekkingOperatorWritten January 2022

There is currently space on our July 11-15 Enchanted Valley tour. You can expect your pack to weigh between 30 and 40 pounds. Along with your tent, sleeping bag and pad, you will need to carry a bear canister weighing approximately 2.5 pounds, personal items and 5-7 pounds of group gear/food. We provide all the gear, including tent, sleeping bag and pad, backpack and trekking poles.
