    Carla

    Asked on February 17th, 2026

I have a concern about the connection to Machu Picchu. It says you have to climb up the mountainside to get to Machu Picchu. I'm looking for the tour that provides the bus from the train to the entrance. This is for 70 yo plus travelers. Although generally healthy that can't hike up a mountainside as the descriptions says.

    • CosmosOperatorWritten February 2026

This tour does include a public bus transfer from the train station to Machu Picchu.

    • C

      Carla

      TravelerWritten February 2026

So no hiking and this will be appropriate for people in their mid to late 70s?

    • CosmosOperatorWritten February 2026

It is based on your personal preference as we do ask for the guest to be able to keep up with the tour group. Please be advised maximum enjoyment of this vacation requires walking on cobblestone streets, uneven pathways, and climbing stairs. Elevations exceeding 10,000 feet can make even modest exertion a challenge. Maximum elevation on this tour is 14,325 ft. In the Galápagos, there will be "wet landings" meaning guests will need to be able to jump in the water, out of the boats/zodiacs and walk a couple of meters to the beaches. Terrain is rocky and uneven.

    • C

      Carla

      TravelerWritten February 2026

Is there another tour that is more appropriate for 70 plus. They are healthy and go on similar tours but might have difficulty keeping up with younger people with the altitude and steep climbs. The want to see Peru and Ecuador and would like to see Machu Picchu. Galapagos or Amazon is not needed but would be nice.

    • CosmosOperatorWritten February 2026

If the guest is in pretty good health, they should be ok to participate in the activities planed for this tour. If there is any time while on the tour that the may need to take a break, they can simply speak with the guide and they will either slow the pace down or allow them to sit out. Our directors are really good with having everyone move together and at the same pace. If they would like to change to something less strenuous, they can take a look at the other tours we offer on the website. The majority of our South America tours will require a good deal of walking.

Can this be a privately guided tour for 4 people?

    Tour Details
    • CosmosOperatorWritten January 2023

Unfortunately this tour can not be done privately for just a group of 4 people. Normally for Cosmos you will need to have at least 12 people in order for this tour to be considered to be done on a private basis. Would you be interested in joining this tour on a group basis and travelling with other like minded travellers?

  • L

    Luis

    Asked on May 1st, 2022

Would like to know if there is a transfer from/to the airport at the beginning and end of the tour? If so, is it included in the your price? If not, how much is it? Also, how much would it cost to add an extra night at the hotel in Lima at the beginning of the tour?

    Accommodation
    Flights / Transfers
    • CosmosOperatorWritten May 2022

Arrival in Lima transfer is CAD 62 per person, departure from Quito is $43 CAD per person. A pre night in Lima would be $79 CAD per person, if we are able to confirm.
