This part of the package is actually the only part of any of our tours that we don’t run ourselves, so we have done a thorough review with our third party operator. We’re very sorry you felt the standard of accommodation for the dive course was not up to standard. It is a basic dive course with basic accommodation, but we will again ensure it’s up to standard. I believe you were offered an upgrade to a luxury resort at a substantial discount which we hope you enjoyed. Regarding the timetable, We understand your group leader went over all the timings day by day on each day and explained the schedule for your dive course.       I see that the dive site is far away from Bangkok. At the end of the trip, I would need to find my way back to Bangkok to fly directly back to Canada after. What sort of advice do you have to make that trip?

      If you are already certified and would like to do the Thai Intro + Dive trip, we will book you in for a package of fun dives or an alternative diving course to do over the 4 days in Koh Tao

      Thai Intro + Dive finishes in Koh Tao in the south of Thailand. There are a few options to get you back to Bangkok: 1. The most popular option is to take a 4 hour ferry to Surat Thani and then a one hour flight back to Bangkok. 2. Take a 2 hour ferry from Koh Tao to Koh Samui and then a one hour flight back to Bangkok. Remember to leave enough time for connecting to your international flight out of Thailand. We will organise the ferry but you may want to pre-book the flight. 3. If you have more time you can also do the overnight train back to Bangkok. Your Group Leader will ensure any other local transport is sorted and you are comfortable with all parts of your trip and your onward travel. It's not recommended flying within 24 hours of your last dive. If needed, fun dives can be arranged earlier to allow for this.

      The 4 alternative dive options giving me the chance do something more advanced seems like a great option. How would I go about doing that? And what diving equipment is provided? I am not sure I'll be able to lug my BCD, regs, fins, etc. with me.

      Yes indeed you can complete your advanced open water course instead of the open water course if you'd prefer! You can let your group leader know when you arrive in Thailand which course you'd like to complete. All diving equipment will be provided when you are in Thailand so no need to bring all your equipment unless you would prefer to use your own mask etc!

      Are you saying I should that Surat Thani domestic flight early? And what are the airport codes? Also: is there any opportunity to see elephants on this trip anywhere?

      Koh Tao is the best place for diving! Due to this trip ending in Koh Tao, we do not have any elephants included. We do on our 18 day Intro of 13 day Experience. However, not on the dive add on. You may be able to squeeze in some elephants during your trip though or possibly before/after. We recommend booking the Surat Thani to Bangkok flight in advance yes, pre trip. Just to ensure availability, but of course please do note you will need to get there from Koh Tao and that can take some time due to ferries and buses. The fastest option is Koh Samui to Bangkok.

    Would I still be able to enroll in the Advanced Open Water Diver course while he does the OWD? If so, would there be an additional charge? We would be most interested in seeing whale sharks.

      What is the best season to go to Thailand for diving? Would the different dives have a surcharge?

      The best time to dive in Thailand depends on the region: the Andaman Sea (West Coast) is best from October to April, while the Gulf of Thailand (East Coast) is better from May to September. No there is no surcharge if you wanted to do the different dives.
