Tokyo
You'll arrive at your Tokyo hostel and connect with your tour guide and group members. After settling in, there's a welcome dinner with traditional Japanese cuisine. Later in the evening, head to Senso-Ji temple to walk around the red gates and soak in the incense and quieter atmosphere before the daytime crowds show up.

- Day 2
Tokyo
You'll start with a Japan Orientation Briefing that covers local customs and useful phrases to help you navigate the country. After that, head to Meiji Shrine located in Yoyogi Park, where you can walk through the peaceful grounds and see the shrine itself. From there, you'll move into Harajuku to check out the quirky shops and colorful streets that line the neighborhood. Later in the day, things shift to the high-energy atmosphere of Akihabara, where you'll explore the arcades, browse unique shops, and if you're interested, visit one of the maid cafes that the area is known for.

- Day 3
Tokyo
After breakfast, join a private sushi-making class where you'll prepare miso soup, three sushi varieties, and learn teriyaki techniques. Enjoy what you make for lunch, then freshen up before heading to Shinjuku for yakitori and beer. Later, walk through Kabukicho's busy streets and finish at the famous Shibuya Pedestrian Crossing.

- Day 4
Tokyo to Hakone
The Romance Car train takes you from Tokyo to Hakone, a mountain town with great views and cooler weather. Once you check into your mountain guesthouse, spend the afternoon exploring the surrounding areas. You might catch sight of Mt Fuji from various spots around town, though this depends on the weather and cloud cover on the day you visit. In the evening, gather with the group for dinner on a rooftop where you can see the mountains around you, and then you'll play some group games to wind down the day.

- Day 5
Hakone to Takayama
Board the bullet train toward Takayama, watching mountain views pass by during the journey. When you arrive in this UNESCO World Heritage town, check into a traditional Japanese temple where you'll sleep on tatami mats. In the evening, try sake and can opt for Hida beef dinner before settling into your temple room for the night.

- Day 6
Takayama to Kyoto
Your guide takes you through Takayama's historic old town and surrounding village with a lunch stop along the way. After that, travel by train to Nagoya, then take the final bullet train to Kyoto, which is known for its many shrines, temples, and geisha culture. Once you arrive, explore the Gion district where you might see a traditional geisha on the street.

Kyoto
Get up early and take the subway to Fushimi-Inari Shrine to walk through the famous red torii gates before the crowds arrive. You'll participate in a traditional tea ceremony, then have the afternoon free to explore Kyoto on your own.

Kyoto
See the Golden Pavilion with its gold-covered exterior and reflections in the surrounding lakes. Head next to Daitoku-Ji, a quiet temple complex that sits away from the typical tourist areas, making it ideal for some peaceful moments. During the afternoon, take part in an authentic kendo class led by a samurai warrior descendant who'll teach you this martial art.

- Day 9
Kyoto to Osaka
Catch an early train to Arashiyama, a district with mountainous valleys and rivers on both sides. Walk through the famous bamboo forest, climb steps to Monkey Mountain, then explore the valleys by private rowboat using traditional Japanese technique. You'll check out of your hostel and head to Osaka, finishing with a food tour through Dotonbori and a karaoke night with your group.
