To anyone out there thinking about a Japan trip just do it. Honestly, if you enjoy a mix of culture, food, and unique experiences, this tour is absolutely worth it. From meeting a monk and meditating at 7am, to having a one-on-one conversation with a kendo sensei, to experiencing a traditional matcha tea ceremony in kimonos made every moment felt special. And of course, one of the best parts is the people you meet along the way. I left with amazing memories, beautiful new friendships, and a full heart. I’d 100% recommend this tour. Just book it! ☺️

I absolutely loved this tour! From start to finish, it felt less like a group trip and more like traveling with a little family I didn’t know I had. Every day was thoughtfully planned, and I got to see so many sides of Japan including beautiful temples, stunning nature, fun city spots, and the little hidden gems I never would’ve found on my own. Our guide, Daan, was the heart of the trip. Passionate about all things Japan, energetic, and so easy to connect with, he made everyone feel comfortable right away. He wasn’t just feeding us information, he was joking with us, learning about us, sharing stories, and creating moments that truly made this experience special. By the end, we weren’t just travelers… we all became good friends! If you’re thinking about taking this tour, do it. You’ll see Japan in such a meaningful way, meet amazing people, and come home with memories you’ll have forever. I’m so grateful I went. ?✨

This experience was truly unforgettable! Our guide, Daan, was incredibly knowledgeable, sharing history, cultural insights, and fun local tips at every stop. Transportation was seamless, accommodations were comfortable, and the group size was just right; small enough to feel personal but large enough to be lively. I left Japan feeling enriched and already planning my next trip (hopefully traveling again with my new friends!)

Always looking out for us we had an amazing guide and our group was all like minded so it was all smooth sailing. Overall it was a pleasant experience. George did a great job being informative and maintaining a schedule which with a large group, it can be tough. My hats off to him. He was very kind and relatable. I would say there were days that packed too many activities in one and did not leave a whole lot of breathing or room for bathroom breaks. The last day in Tokyo was very difficult to keep up and rather than being excited, I felt exhausted and just wanted to go back to the hotel. More free time baked into the schedules would be appreciated. The first night in Kyoto would have been better to have had a free night as opposed to the tour with Saki. It was difficult to hear Saki and most of us were ready to call it a day after a long day of travel. Definitely, the low point was the rooming situation in Hakone. It worked out in the end but it was a headache to deal with when all we wanted to do was rest. In terms of rooming, it felt like there was a couples privilege to have their own room. Please offer packages for solo travelers, some of us prefer our own space and within our age group we shouldn’t be forced to share rooms, especially with people we don’t know. Highlights were really the more rural and nature focused areas. For the size of the group, I felt that at times it was loud and disruptive. I’m not sure how a group this size made it work but it worked! Overall, I think the choice of activities was great for first time visitors to get a good sense of the greatness of Japan and it was very informative to returning visitors. The freedom to break off from the group was great. I wish exploration was encouraged more but the tour did not feel constrictive.

I buy my own insurance. I would really like this tour. I'm not looking for scenery only I want an experience.

    • One Life AdventuresOperatorWritten November 2025

As much as we would love to have you on board this tour, we have to follow our guidelines as per our tour requirements, meaning we are unable to accommodate guests who are over the age of 59.

I don't understand what that means. You can't accommodate anyone over 59?

    • One Life AdventuresOperatorWritten November 2025

Yes that's correct, our age policy is 18-59. As mentioned I realise this can be disappointing, but TourRadar can help you find a similar tour that accommodates all ages

We are 2 adults and 1 child (12yrs). We need one private room with bathroom. Child will share same room. Can you please confirm this can be accomodated and total cost for 2 adults + 1 child. Also, please inform of any extras which are not included and need to be paid on top of the total price.

How rigid are you with the upper age of 59? I'm a very young and fit 62 and my friend is in her 50's. I'd be interested in this trip if it wasn't ageist :)

Can I arrange my own flights?

    Flights / Transfers
    • One Life AdventuresOperatorWritten August 2025

The price is not included with international flights so you will need to arrange this separately. Nights 1-4 Twin/Double Rooms: If you and your travel companion book together, you'll automatically be placed in the same room for all twin/double nights. Night 5 Temple Stay: This will be a traditional experience with multi-share rooms, the room is either for 9, 5 or 3 people. Nights 6, 7 & 8 Ryokan Hostel Gion (Kyoto): You'll be staying in a pod-style dorm. Each person gets their own private pod (not shared), very comfy and a true part of Japan's modern hostel culture.
