Itinerary
- Day 1
Puerto Maldonado to Amazon Research Station
You'll get picked up from Puerto Maldonado airport or the bus station and head down the Madre de Dios River by motorized canoe to reach the research station. After you settle in, there's time to walk the station's trail system through the rainforest where you might spot some of the over 540 bird species and 100+ mammals living there. Later in the day, you'll take a night cruise on the river looking for capybaras, caimans, and nightjars.

- Day 2
Amazon Research Station
Start with the canopy walkway, a 1129-ft system of towers, platforms, and hanging bridges that sits about 100ft above the ground. From there you'll walk to Carachamayo natural pool to learn about carachama fishing and the local ecosystem. In the afternoon, there's an optional canoe trip to Lake Sandoval (extra cost) if you want to see giant river otters and macaws. By evening, a guided night hike takes you through the jungle to experience nocturnal sounds and creatures.

Amazon Research Station to Puerto Maldonado
After breakfast, you'll check out of the research station and head back to Puerto Maldonado by motorized canoe. Once you're back in town, you can either spend time at the Butterfly House or arrange a drop-off at the airport or bus station for your next destination.
