Most tours meet at one of three easy-to-find spots in Manhattan: near the TKTS booth in Times Square on 42nd Street, outside Port Authority Bus Terminal, or in the main concourse of Grand Central Terminal. TourRadar travelers often mention "the conveniently located Port Authority side entrance at 330W 42nd Street" as their preferred meeting spot for multi-day tours. Some tours also start from hotels like the Fairfield Inn & Suites in Midtown or La Quinta Inn in Manhattan.

The weather can vary depending on where your tour takes you - New York might be snowy while Washington DC or Miami could be much milder. New Year's in New York means you can join the famous Times Square Ball Drop celebration, watch fireworks in Central Park, or take a special harbor cruise to see the Manhattan skyline at night. Most tours include evening events around Rockefeller Center, Times Square, or viewing spots in Long Island City. One TourRadar traveler shared their experience: "Watching the ball drop in Times Square on New Year's Eve was an unforgettable bucket-list experience, though you need to arrive very early to get a good spot."
