Our guide William was excellent. He regaled us with historical facts about Scotland during the beautiful (but winding) drive from Edinburgh to the Ferry for our trip over to Islay. He even created a playlist of regional Scottish music to further immerse us in the Scottish folklore. He used his guile to get us into a couple of unscheduled tastings as well. It was clear that the distillery operators were confident that those getting off Rabbie's Van were enthusiastically well prepared and we were treated as honored guests. I was glad I had arranged for lodging when I booked through TourRadar as the town was limited in lodging during the busy weekend and we were scattered about a bit. Dinner was on our own in the town of Bowmore, and some places required reservations. I went alone on the trip and felt right at home with the 14 other guests from all around the world who had also come to learn more about this special Isle and it's history of whiskey making (it's all about the Peat...)Show more
