  I waited 50 years to do this trip and return to my birth place I was extremely disappointed our tour guide and driver were great but that where it stops you need to be more upfront with your customers because it cost us an extra $2000 to actually see proper sites whats include in the package does not include a lot of the sites in italy the hotels were too far from anything some were quite poky the meals included were also very poor some were actually un eatable I truly believe you need to be more upfront with you travellers for some they have worked all there lives and then find out they have fork out another $2000 it's just not rightShow more

  Can't recommend. Yes, it's a budget tour. But the hotels are way too far from city centers and attractions to do anything on your own. They do not give you a detailed itinerary ahead of time, and it changed at the last minute, so you are forced into their "optional" excursions that are overpriced. Factor in taxis and priviate transfers for anything you want to do on your own. And even though we asked, we were not given any information on transportation outside of the tour - we were completely on our own. The included dinners were just downright bad - TV dinner food at best - and not Italian. While four were included in our tour, we did two, then decided it was much better to go on our own and pay for our meals - it's Italy after all! This is a budget tour, and it gives you a place to stay and moves you from place to place. If you're ok with doing all their overpriced optional excursions, then this might be for you, but otherwise, you can definitely plan this on your own - enjoy it more and likely save money. Can't recommend.Show more

Our Costsaver itineraries are purposely designed to allow our guests the freedom to undertake independent sightseeing or leisure time, with the opportunity to join our Optional Experience for a more in-depth guided experience as needed. A detailed itinerary, including a complete list of Optional Experiences, gets sent to the provided email address approximately three weeks before your tour starts, and it is also available on our website and in our brochures. We do encourage our guests to familiarise themselves with this information to avoid such disappointment whilst on the trip. For future travel, our sister brand, Trafalgar, may be of interest for itineraries with more included experiences. We are sorry you felt that the hotels you stayed in were too far from the city centres, making it difficult for you to explore and experience the cities as much as you would have liked. Having your valuable feedback assists our relevant departments in seeing where we can improve our itineraries.   My husband and I have just completed our splendours of Italy tour. Our tour coordinator was Antonella and our coach driver was Ferdinando. There are no words that can express how fabulous these two were. Her ability to make everyone comfortable and unite all the guests, so that in the end we were one big happy family. To his expertise and skill at driving the coach. Also, a special mention to all of the tour guides which Antonella organised in all the cities we visited. The extent of their knowledge was immense. Thank you Antonella for the most amazing experience. Without you, I am not sure that it would have been the same. We hope Cost Savers acknowledges how wonderful and an asset that you are. All in all, a 5 out of 5 experience.Show more

  The trip was great we saw so much in a short period of time, our travel director Laura was excellent very knowledgeable, patient and funny. I would like to see a longer version of this tour as some places there is so much to see. Some of the hotels were not up to scratch but I suppose you aren't in them very long and they are quite a distance from the centres of towns, overall though this was an excellent tour showing lots of Italy to see where you want to spend more time next timeShow more

  Atrocious. Spent over 3K on a CostSaver recommended store, despite it being 500% more than other stores because "we will assist if something goes wrong." Well something has gone wrong, and NO assistance. Over priced tours considering nothing is included, and thus you MUST do the "optionals." No choice as hotels are in the middle of no where. Hotels also lack a lot of facilities and when I queried this, the answer was "we prefer to support small family hotels as they have good service." Ok fine, but I would also like more than toast for brekky, and maybe a decent window in my bedroom. They have also contacted me via socials wanting to post some of my pictures: great. But perhaps also respond to my feedback, one of which actually needs URGENT action.Show more
