Thank you for your feedback. We're pleased that you rated this trip 4 out of 5 stars overall. However, we're sorry that there were some aspects of the trip that you weren't so pleased with. We try to find a middle ground with the way we arrange our overland trips - with accommodation and transport provided, and also a few specific activities and entrances along the way. But as you highlight, that leaves a lot of flexibility for people to do as many or as few other activities and visits as they wish. This means the trip can work for people with very different interests and budgets. Accommodation is on a shared basis, yes, and we sometimes use multi-bed dorms in hostels. People may then choose to upgrade to private rooms if they wish. While you are camping, we provide tents, though again if you don't want to share you are welcome to bring your own. We know that there were some parts of your trip where the accommodation used was not ideally located, and I'm sorry for any impact that had on your ability to do everything and see everything you wanted. This was partly because this was our first trip on this route since the Covid pandemic, and quite a few of our normal accommodations had closed down completely, or that we had heard had dropped in standard so much we would not use them. This should improve on future trips, though as we have our large vehicle to manoeuvre, we can't always access places in the middle of towns that we'd like to.

    Asked on February 21st, 2024

Is this a tour that you offer in sections or is it the full route only?

    Tour Details
    • Oasis OverlandOperatorWritten February 2024

We can offer this in shorter parts, yes. Realistically, you would need to join in Belem. We have had people join there before and it works OK. We have a couple days scheduled there, and there is a decent airport to fly into with lots of regional connections. As this is not a regular stop you would need to allow a little flexibility with your dates in case we are running a bit ahead or a few days behind. So, we would recommend you plan to arrive in Belem on 2nd April at the latest.

    • A

      Anne

      TravelerWritten February 2024

Is there also an option to meet in Paramaribo instead please mid April time please and then instead try trip would be around 2 weeks?

    • Oasis OverlandOperatorWritten February 2024

2 weeks is really too short to be joining a section of a trip like this I'm afraid, we don't tend to take people on odd sections for any less than 3 or 4 weeks, as you are in effect taking a place that someone else could have for the full 57 days experience.

This trip is a 50% camping-based, fully participatory trip. You will need to put up your tent, take it down, lift heavy tents, cook for the group, collect firewood, and keep the truck clean. Everyone is expected to do their part and work as a team.

I have done several long overland camping trips but the tents are very heavy. Reluctantly this won't be a trip for me.
