    Lynne

    Asked on June 13th, 2025

I'm concerned about mosquito-borne diseases. So I have a few questions about the trip. Bed nets - do all accommodations have Permethrin impregnated bed nets? The trip notes indicate many of the accommodations are modest - while rooms with AC would be best (for heat/humidity/mosquitos), I realize that may not often be the case. But how about fans, do all of the rooms have fans? Does TourRadar recommend clients take an antimalarial medication? Have TourRadar clients contracted dengue, malaria, japanese encephalitis, or any other infectious diseases on this or other SE Asia trips? Do TourRadar guides carry Malarone or some other emergency medication for malaria?

    Accommodation
    Travel Support
    • Intrepid TravelOperatorWritten June 2025

Before departure, it's essential to consult a travel doctor for the most up-to-date medical advice, required vaccinations, and to discuss any preventative medications such as antimalarials. We recommend travellers carry a personal first aid kit and any necessary medications in their original packaging. There have been rare instances of mosquito-borne diseases in this region. While we cannot provide or carry medication like Malarone, your doctor can recommend appropriate prophylaxis if needed. Preventive measures are the best defense: Wear long sleeves and pants, especially at dawn and dusk. Use insect repellent (DEET-based is often recommended). Accommodations typically provide mosquito nets where needed, though they are not always Permethrin-treated. Air-conditioning and fans are available in many but not all accommodations—some are modest guesthouses or homestays.

    Asked on September 1st, 2022

Wondering about booking flights. What do people do when the arrrival and departure places are different... Hanoi versus Bangkok.

    Flights / Transfers
    • Intrepid TravelOperatorWritten September 2022

When booking your flights, typically you would book in and out of different airports for a trip like this. This is called a multi city or open jaw booking. Most international flights will route back through Bangkok to head back home.

  • N

    Nadia

    Asked on August 8th, 2022

Where do I fly into Bangkok or Hanoi? And how does one get to the point of origin? I mean, if I fly into Bangkok from the US, do I need to make my own arrangements for Hanoi? Or vice versa?

    Flights / Transfers
    Tour Details
    • Intrepid TravelOperatorWritten August 2022

This tour starts in Hanoi and ends in Bangkok. You would need to book your flights into Hanoi and departing from Bangkok. We are able to offer airport transfers between the start and end hotels and the airports for an additional cost. We can provide a quote for this service if you are interested.

    Asked on March 11th, 2022

We're very interested in doing this tour, but are concerned about the rain. Would the timing, typically mean days in a row of unending rain? Or??

    Tour Details
    Travel Support
    • Intrepid TravelOperatorWritten March 2022

There are officially two seasons in Cambodia - wet and dry. During November to May you can expect dry conditions, while June to October will have wetter weather. March, April and May are the best times to visit Vietnam's central highlands as conditions are a lot milder as opposed to the much more stifling heat suffered in the south of the country, where it can reach 40°C Tropical cyclones usually occur in the eastern coastal regions from around May to November.
