  I just had a fantastic highlight tour of Morocco in 15 days. We had a very passionated and professional tour guide who has a wealth of knowledge about the country, very attentive and caring. While the accomondations were basic, but they are clean and the staff are friendly. I think this tour offers a high price to value ratio.Show more

  Although the tour was very interesting and varied there were a lot of things which weren't ok. The hotel Madrid is a terrible hotel, there was no hot water for showers, my room door didn't open or lock properly, I had to get someone from reception to help me each time I needed to enter or leave, they promised to change my room on the second night but didn't. Others in the group had to change rooms from the basement late at night because of the stench of sewage. The only places I had hot water to shower were at Hotel Campanile, Hotel Mounia, Hotel Amazir, Riad Nahlka ( but only after insisting on changing rooms, the room I was assigned was poky with the window opening to a hallway where guests were passing by and the water was freezing) and hotel Oudaya. Although these are budget hotels they should at least have hot water , in comparison their prices are only slightly lower than basic European hotels where the water is hot, the towels are plentiful and the rooms are cleaned daily. I had to beg for a second towel in Riad Nahlka and Hotel Madrid. I think most travellers just accept what I have highlighted however I think GAdventures needs to check on standards and make hotels aware of issues raised. Our driver was excellent but the van had next to no air conditioning, it was hot and hard to breathe we had to keep asking him to turn it on/up. Also contrary to what is stated in the description seat belts are mandatory in Morocco and because a seat belt was broken on a single seat it couldn't be used. This was discovered on the first day but nothing was done to repair this which meant a single comfortable seat was unavailable for the entire trip although the driver had multiple chances to have it repaired as he wasn't driving everyday. Our tour guide Ahmad wasn't very proactive, he answered questions if asked but that was it. We had necessary stops along the way but they were too long sometimes and it seemed like he was delaying our arrival at the next place as long as possible, one example was Essaouira, he said we would arrive at three in the afternoon, the itinerary also said afternoon. After leaving Imlil we drove to the Zarbiat Achbarou Coop after which we drove to an Argan Oil Coop which was neither on the included itinerary or the optional activities. we were handed over to a lady whilst our guide and the driver went to have tea in the shade. I questioned him before this stop asking why and the fact that we weren't going to get to Essaouira until later. His reply to me in a patronising tone was that three o clock was an estimated time and because of all the stops we would never be anywhere at the exact time. He was the one who decided the stops and the length of time personally Id rather have arrived early to hotels and explore the surroundings than drive all over stopping at petrol stations for up to have an hour. We didn't get to our room keys in our Riad until five thirty, he then decided that we should meet at six o clock to walk the area. an estimated three o clock and arrival five thirty is ridiculous. So I had to change my room and secure hot water ( not having had any since Hotel Amazir ) I texted him saying I wouldn't make six o clock as I had to change my room, ensure hot water and shower. His reply was "Thank you for the update" Theresa's no offer of help with talking to reception. A few days earlier when we arrived at Hotel La Rose DuSable he spoke to me in a tone where I had to call him out on it as it was so disrespectful, when I asked me not to speak to me in that tone he answered that he was trying to manage three things at once, cooking class, rooms and luggage and our walk later. That is no excuse, earlier he scheduled a trip to the Atlas Film Studios saying it would only take place if everyone wanted to go, however this wasn't the case Seven did, six didn't so the six of us were dropped in Quarzazote for an hour in the afternoon heat. That evening after our walk to Ait Ben Haddou, he announced that next day on our way to Imlil we would lunch with a family he knew because the places on the route would be full of tourists and he didn't like this. Up to now every place we stopped for lunch were full of tourists and picked by him. He told us there was only one menu and it cost 1200 mad per person. Some of us didn't like the idea of having no option or of having a large lunch as we were having a home cooked dinner in the evening at Auberge Tafraout Armed. Six of us said we didn't want lunch, seven did. The house was in the middle of nowhere and it was extremely hot. When we got there he told us that the family had prepared enough for all of us and that we shouldn't feel ashamed that we didn't pay but we could eat anyway. That was disgusting behaviour on his part and no way to treat the people he was a tour guide for, he didn't grasp the fact that payment had nothing to do with it . One woman went to eat, the rest of us left and wandered around in the heat until they were finished. He could at least have asked his friends if there was somewhere cool for us to sit. On the day we went to the Fes Medina, a similar thing happened, the local guide told us that he had reserved a place for lunch to make sure we had fresh food ( according to him all of Fes reheat their food over days ) When we got there it was a menu with a set price although you could vary the main course so it was another thing some of us felt forced into and it was obvious the local guide was friends with the owners. Also that day by the time we got to the tannery there wasn't much to see as they had finished work for the day. Ahmad told us about who gAdventures supports before we visited the places but he never mentioned Planeterra. Morocco is beautiful country and Im happy I got to see so much of it and structurally the tour was great but it could be excellent if the hotels and this particular tour guide were more on board.   The tour of Morocco is intense. However, prior to booking, we were informed this would occur. Hence, I have no complaints about that issue. Overall, I enjoyed the experience which was well organised and provided some insight into Moroccan culture. This was primarily due to our excellent "CEO" Hassan who was informative, relaxed, and friendly. I would also like to mention our driver who did a terrific job in keeping us safe and on schedule.Show more

  I had a very good experience on the « highlights of Morocco» tour. The tour guide, Abdellah, was very interesting, we learned a lot about the country and the culture. He always made sure that everyone was ok at all time. I really recomend both the tour and the guide. All hotels were well located. The tour is a good highlight of the country as we were able to see distinct side of it as the landscape changed from city to mountain to desert. This has been for sure one of my best trips. I also learned a lot thank to our excellent guide Abdellah. Also thank you to our driver who was always on time and drove us safely accross Morocco.Show more
