  This trip caters for all! For the adrenaline seeks: white water rafting, zip lining, canyoning, horseback riding, surfing, kayaking and hiking. For the nature lover: epic scenery from beaches to volcanoes, birds, sloths, reptiles, insects .. For those that like a little pampering there is the catamaran tour and man-made hot springs, and options to sit back and relax in a boat whilst gazing out. However, this all comes at a cost, each activity is on average $50 so it starts to get pricey quick and it feels like you are obligated to book something each day. Travelling around Costa Rica, means sitting in a minibus, these are not high end and who knew that a seat would fold out in the middle isle. With all luxury stored on the back seats, there isn't a lot of space, no charging points and intermittent wifi - make sure you have something to read. Accommodation standards are low (backpackers had more amenities in La Fortuna), your going to need a torch. The itinerary changes and not everything is available or even meets the printed description, but the guide will help you achieve your goals, remember the ethos is Pura Vida - just relax. Its a real shame that the tour shows nothing of San Jose, so add a day and see it for yourself.Show more

  My partner and I chose this tour because:- - it included time in Puerto Viejo - it included or gave the option of guided visits to the different types of rainforest which Costa Rica offers so that we could see a variety of fauna and flora - it gave us the opportunity for more 'free time' when we could relax at our own pace (we are aged 77yrs and 75 yrs). The tour fulfilled these objectives and was helped enormously by the efforts of the Tour Leader, Josimar, who kept our group fully informed of the options available on a daily basis both verbally and by use of a WhatsApp group. He was also willing to get stuck in and help with loading and unloading heavy luggage items where necessary. Josimar showed a personal interest in every member of the group and made sure to talk with different members of the group at mealtimes as the tour progressed. He was both a leader and a colleague. The hotels, and the jungle tents, were of a good basic standard and we were pleased to be helping local businesses. My partner and I came looking for the trip of a lifetime in this beautiful country and this G Adventure tour ensured that this was achieved.Show more

  Travel in a group of people you don't know is not always easy and if common sense in relation of how to behave correctly is missing, the travel agency needs to take over and take a decision. G Adventures did never take this decision and I decided to leave the tour in order to feel safe. I was insulted several time by a group member without a reason. I was always kind to this person and respected her. The fact that this person was in need of 2 liters of beer or any kind of alcohol to handle her day is not an excuse to insult someone you don't know. In a silent moment out of the blue she wished me to die. I was not interacting with her, I was seated with my book in my hands and she wished me to choke. My concerns were ingnored by G Adventure and when I asked to leave the tour, I was literally dumped with my bag at a pubblic bus station and asked to please understand that this person is not bad and that I should not take this so seriously. I was insulted by a drunk woman, she wished me to die and G Adventures asked me to please understand that not all what is said is what is really meant. I don't have to understand or accept that a person with alcohol problems wishes me to die. I felt unsafe and G Adventure wanted me to sign a release form because they dumped me at a pubblic bus station and left with the rest of the group. I have no words to describe what I feel right now. For the part of the tour that I was on: The optional night walk that I did book via G Adventures was not respecting wildlife. The guide was touching insects, teasing a tarantula in her nest with a stick to make her come out, pointing laser pens in direction of resting animals and at the end he did point the laser pen to the sky to show some stars. This is dangerous for the animals and as well for us. Laser pens can damage permanently eyes and as the light can go very far, to point them to the sky is an absolutely no go. Total unacceptable. Boat trasportation: The lifevest on board were not safe. They did fix the broken one to look good and yes, they did look good but the safety part was totally gone. In the water the lifevest will be push up and as the cord is atatched only to half of the vest the result will be the follow: A - You lose your vest - people without vest that cannot swim will attach themself to you pushing you under the water B - The vest will float going up while you fall in the water, as part of the cord is attached to the vest you risk to be chocked by the cord of the vest that will search the way out/over the water without you. Difficult to call this a vacation. Difficult to accept that G Adventures does not check how safe their transortations are - does not check how animals are treated during a tour and most of all, difficult to accept, that G Adventure does not remove from a tour people that wish death and unluck to other people. Unacceptable - no words left.Show more
