The trip was simply amazing. The country is extremely beautiful and the itinerary allows to see and do the best that it has to offer. Our tourguide Gabriel was incredible and truly went above and beyond to ensure everything went smoothly and everyone had a good time. We were given a lot of information regarding the country and its people and it really helped to make this trip unforgettable. On a side note, the trip itinerary includes a visit in a rustic lodge and a tractor ride to get there. I was pleasantly surprised regarding the lodge accomodations, which provided us with great food, and it had 24/7 electricity, clean rooms and toilets and even showers with hot water and the tractor ride was not that bad to get there.

    3.5 - Good

our tour could not fail as we had , in Ernyk, the very best guide possible - full of passion for his country, great, wide knowledge, always seeking to challenge us and care and attention for us, his group members. Most importantly he encouraged and helped us to be become a close knit group. In 16 days we learnt a lot about the country, saw varied areas and have some great memories and photos. The simple accomodation was fine apart from Sarapiqui - simple accomodation is fine but this venue was very tired and rather dirty. The location of most of the hotels was also poorish- when you have limited times in areas it is much better to be nearer the centre unless the hotel location is very special which ours were not.

    2.0 - Rather poor

Myself, my husband and daughter have just arrived home from the Costa Rica Adventure Tour from 21 Dec 17 - 6 Jan 18. Unfortunately it is a holiday to remember for all the wrong reasons! The hotels varied from being totally unacceptable with no external windows and in poor repair to tired and disappointing and one was so bad that after one night we checked out and rebooked the remaining 2 nights, elsewhere. This caused us to question future hotels and when we checked reviews online, decided they were not to standard and rebooked a total of 6 nights away from the tour at a personal additional cost of $1800 as it was across the Xmas & New Year period. After rejoining the group afterwards, one member told us that the Magsasay Lodge was so bad that it should be knocked down and never rebuilt. The whole tour was a disappointment with our CEO being generally disinterested in what we wanted to get out of the trip. Interested only in booking (commission based?) extreme activities and gave minimal help with any other interests ie: horse riding, paddle boarding, wildlife. On asking where his next trip would be, he told me it was a National Geographical tour who wanted to learn about the country and wildlife - I was most insulted as we and most others would go on a trip to Costa Rica based on the bio-diversity and varied interesting wildlife and bird life - however, he would not know of our interest as he barely spoke to us to find out! Often the local drivers and guides were more interested, informative and friendly. To us, our CEO seemed, introverted, disinterested and sullen. We were booked to go on the Central America Tour in March but as we have lost all confidence in G Adventures we will definitely not be going.

Well organised tour with good transport and accomodations. Plenty of activities available to do with local operators or just by yourself. Tight and busy travelling schedule, one extra relax day in most locations would be nice, but that is always the case with these kind of tours .
