  This was a great tour to become immersed in the cultures of all 3 countries. I booked without accommodation as I did not want to stay in hostels as an older person doing the tour so I arranged budget hotels at my expense instead. Just to warn other travellers, you need to be physically fit to do this tour, as there is a volcano hike that is around 4km, as well as a 2km hike around Semuc Champey. Be prepared for that one as well - it took me by surprise because of the humidity in the Lanquin valley as well as by how slippery some of the steps were. I recommend travellers also bring water shoes for this activity and also for any other swimming and snorkeling activities you may sign up for in Caye Caulker or Tulum. Be advised as well that there are a number of long bus rides, especially the one from Belize to Mexico, and wifi isn’t always available on the bus. Buying an eSIM isn’t a bad idea. The earliest morning was the tour to Tikal as it departed at 4:30am. You will be thankful that it’s early since it can be quite humid in northern Guatemala as well. Bring bug spray for your ankles, as the stories about the sand fleas are no joke. This is a great tour but be prepared for the mental and physical challenges.Show more

  Overall the organisation of the trips and buses in Guatemala were excellent. I did have a WhatsApp number I could communicate with in relation to plans and times. As we got to Caye Caulker island Belize their were no excursions included. I personally messaged the company and stayed an extra day 3 days as the travelling every 2 day catches up after a week. I asked the company as their were no further excursions planned from Belize to Mexico would it be possible to rearrange the journey. When I left Caye Caulker island staying 3 days instead of 2 which is advisable its beautiful and you will have been travelling for a week, I asked the tour to organise transport from Chetumal to Bacalar where their is a famous mineral lake and beautiful town. I have advised to add this stop. Also their was a plan from Tulum to stop in Playa del Carmen for an hour with bag pack. I questioned this as how would you manage an hour on the beach with your belongings and then get on a bus to Cancun. I actually added Bacalar and went to the airport in cancun after 1 night and day in Tulum which is beautiful. Personally I would avoid Playa del Carmen and Cancun. Highly expensive and not as untouched as other places. I also booked my own accommodation as I didn't realise it was separate to the booking. I booked most of their suggested accommodation however my own room in hostels. I believe I saved just under 300 euros doing this myself. The tour provider were excellent at communicating with me and booking ADO buses for me from South Mexico as I arranged my own route from their. Keeping in mind their are no excursions from Belize Caye Caulker on in th trip. Guatemala was beautiful and easy to travel in as each pack packers would book the shuttle busses for other guests. The route is well travelled with most going the same way. It was a great trip. I would advise using the recommended accommodation however booking your own room. Sweet dreams in Atalan wasn't great Standard however it was cheap for a double room. I chose different accommodation in Belize Caye Caulker and Tulum. The company did accept my changes on route and booked all ADO buses. The lady that looked after to me was excellent from that point of view. My recommendations. 1. GUATEMALA ALL SUGGESTED STOPS AND TOURS. 2. BOOK YOUR OWN ACCOMMODATION HOSTAL OASIS LANQUIN BEST. OTHERS I sought Mostly 3.As the excursions are not added from Caye caulker Belize. 3 nights their for rest after travelling. Bacalar, Tulum then if needs must CancunShow more

  I would not recommend this tour to anyone considering what I went through. It seems like they are not organized at all. Transportation part was okay but the accommodation was very poor. One of the nights, I had a late check in at a hostel due to transportation, when I reached the premises they didn't have my reservation (not sure who is responsible for this) but they were fully booked and I had to walk around and search for another accommodation at 2am. When I did find an accommodation, the company refused to refund me for the hotel knowing I had no other options. Overall very poor customer service. I definitely will not choosing Marvelus ever again.Show more
