Tokyo
After you clear customs, a shared shuttle bus takes you to your hotel. Spend the rest of the day getting comfortable in your room or exploring the area at your own pace. In the afternoon, your guide will walk through how the tour operates and answer any questions you have about the days ahead.

- Day 2
Tokyo
Your guided five-hour tour of Tokyo starts with Zojoji Temple, where you'll get views of Tokyo Tower. From there, head to the famous Shibuya Crossing and then to Meiji Shrine. Walk through the Imperial Palace gardens before checking out Akihabara's anime and electronics shops. By late afternoon, you'll reach Tokyo Skytree for views across the city. In the evening, your guide takes you by subway to Shinjuku for dinner at a local restaurant.

- Day 3
Tokyo to Kyoto
An early morning bullet train departure gets you to Kyoto in just over two hours, covering around 500 km. Spend your day in this former imperial capital visiting Fushimi Inari Shrine with its rows of torii gates, the Imperial Palace, and the Golden Pavilion set in beautiful gardens. Later, you'll wander through Gion, the traditional geisha district with its narrow streets and wooden buildings. The rest of the day is open for you to explore however you'd like.

- Day 4
Kyoto to Nara to Osaka
Head to Nara early to see Todaiji Temple and its enormous Buddha statue built in 752. The park around the temple has friendly deer you can interact with. After lunch, travel to Horyu-ji Temple, one of Japan's oldest Buddhist temples and a UNESCO site known for its ancient wooden structures. Then make your way to Osaka for the evening and spend time in the lively Dotonbori district with its neon signs, food stalls, and nightlife.

- Day 5
Osaka to Himeji to Okayama
Travel to Himeji to explore its large castle complex, one of the best examples of traditional Japanese architecture. Have lunch at a local restaurant before heading to Okayama. There you'll visit Korakuen, a beautiful garden with lakes, waterfalls, and traditional teahouses. Cross a pedestrian bridge to reach Okayama Castle, a sixteenth-century structure rebuilt in 1966. The remainder of the afternoon and evening are free for you to wander around this provincial city.

- Day 6
Okayama to Kurashiki to Itsukushima to Hiroshima
Begin in Kurashiki, walking through the well-preserved historic center with its charming narrow streets and old buildings. Travel to Hiroshima and visit the Peace Memorial Park and Atomic Bomb Dome, then spend time at the Peace Memorial Museum. Take a ferry to Itsukushima Island to see the famous Itsukushima Shrine, which sits partially over the water and honors the guardian of the seas. Explore the shrine and the surrounding town, grab lunch, and then head back to your hotel in Hiroshima for dinner.
