  We booked an 8 days trip to Marrakech and Haut Atlas organized by Sahara Tours International. The first day we stayed at a very nice Riad in the Medina of Marrakech, and the next day our guide, Abdo, picked us up to go up to the mountains in a traditional saharian gown. We made a quick stop not too far away from Marrakech so that he could tell us more about Moroccan mountains and the lifestyle of people living there. He drove us to a berber village where lovely women showed us how to produce argan oil, and then he took us to Ighref to see the waterfalls. After that, we found a quiet place to do a picnic and rest before driving to discover new berber villages at around 1.800 m above sea level. We also passed through a village called Asni, also known as the “Happy Valley”, while listening to beautiful Arabic music meticulously chosen by Abdo, and here we stopped for a quick dance! The day ended in a wonderful hotel where we tasted typical food like legumes soup, Moroccan salad and tajine of meat. On day three Abdo took us to see the Ouirgane lake, some canyons and more berber villages. We took a small walk in one of them, admiring the lifestyle of berber people, children included. Thanks to the sunny weather we enjoyed the magnificent view of the cultivated fields of different shades of green. Then we passed alongside various villages before arriving to a beautiful restaurant on lake Takerkoust. After relaxing under the sun, Abdo took us to another hotel where we rested for the rest of the day. The day after, Abdo took us to see, among other things, the so called “Titanic of the Atlas”, a part of land shaped as the famous ship, that is surrounded by a river. There, we ate lunch with a berber family that welcomed us in their home and cooked for us typical dishes. The man of the house even entertained us by playing his guitar!! In the afternoon it was time to go to the desert of Agafay where, the next day, we booked an experience with quads. Unfortunately, we had to say goodbye to our amazing guide that, with his kindness, sensibility and joie de vivre has made our trip magical! We spent the last three days of our trip in Marrakesh.Show more
