Itinerary
- Day 1
Dakar
You'll arrive in Dakar and get settled in before the 6 pm welcome meeting where you'll connect with your leader and other travelers. If you get there early, check out Sagada market to browse local produce and pick up souvenirs, or spend some time on Ngor Beach to unwind after your journey.

- Day 2
Goree Island
Start exploring Dakar on foot and using local transport for a real feel of the city. You'll visit Tilem Market to learn about traditional healing, then head to Soumbedioune Market and Artisans Market. After that, see the Presidential Palace before catching a ferry to Goree Island (UNESCO World Heritage site). Walk through the Slave House and see the Door of No Return. Back in Dakar, you'll drive along the scenic Corniche and visit the African Renaissance Monument.

Saint Louis
This morning you'll drive to Pink Lake to see the unusual pink-colored water from microorganisms and salt levels. Take a walk around the lake and go for a swim if you'd like in the salty water. Then travel to Saint Louis, a UNESCO World Heritage city famous for jazz and French colonial buildings. The evening is yours to wander around at your own pace.

Djoudj National Park
Early on, you'll board a traditional pirogue on the Senegal River to explore Birds of Djoudj National Park, one of the world's largest bird sanctuaries with around 300 species. In the afternoon, you have the option to visit Guet N'Dar fishing village to watch pirogues come back from the water and see how fish gets smoked the traditional way.

Kaolack
You'll travel to Touba, a sacred city and spiritual center for Senegalese Muslims in the Mouride brotherhood. Check out the Touba Mosque, one of West Africa's largest, and learn about founder Cheikh Amadou Bamba. Then continue on to Kaolack, which is known for its peanut trade and busy local markets.

- Day 6
Casamance - Ziguinchor
You'll drive through The Gambia and into Senegal's Casamance region, shaped by the winding Casamance River. Learn about the Diola people and their strong community ties and communal rice farming traditions. You'll arrive in Ziguinchor, southern Senegal's largest city, with time to walk through streets with old houses and see tropical mangroves.

Cap Skirring
Take a relaxed morning in Ziguinchor before driving to Cap Skirring, home to some of West Africa's best beaches. Check in at your hotel and settle in to this peaceful spot. Spend the afternoon lounging on the sand or try optional water activities if that appeals to you.

- Day 8
Cap Skirring
You'll take a day trip to Djenbereng to learn about the Jola people's culture and history, including their traditional customs and community practices. Return to Cap Skirring in the afternoon with free time to relax or explore by bike or kayak on your own.

Banjul
Cross into The Gambia and head to Abuko Nature Reserve, where you'll find diverse vegetation and wildlife. Go birdwatching with chances to see up to 250 bird species and spot reptiles like Nile crocodiles and spitting cobras. Then continue to Banjul, the capital, which has a laid-back feel despite being one of Africa's least-populated capitals.

- Day 10
Banjul
Visit the Saint Joseph Adult Education and Skill Centre, a historic Portuguese building where disadvantaged women learn sewing, crafts, and tie-dye work. They'll share their work on children's and women's rights advocacy. Then explore Albert Market with its fabric stalls, souvenirs, and fresh produce. Your afternoon is free, with an optional visit to the National Museum through Arch 22.

Saly
Wake early to take a ferry across the Gambia River, then navigate unpaved roads to Jeffereh, birthplace of Kunta Kinte from the novel 'Roots'. Explore this area as a reminder of the transatlantic slave trade. Cross back into Senegal and continue to Saly to check in at your beach hotel. You can join the group for a final dinner if you'd like.

Saly
After breakfast, your trip ends and you're free to leave whenever. Or you can join local Senegalese women at a market to pick fresh ingredients, then head to one of their homes to prepare lunch together under their guidance. You'll share the meal with them and get insight into their daily lives in Senegal.
