After grabbing lunch, spend the afternoon walking through historic Plaza de Mayo, checking out the colorful La Boca harbor area with its bright buildings, and wandering the artistic streets of San Telmo. From there, visit the famous Recoleta cemetery and stop by El Ateneo bookshop, which sits inside a former theater. By late afternoon, find yourself at Confiteria La Ideal for coffee and cake, where you can try their well-known Dulce de Leche cake.

Buenos Aires to El Calafate
You fly to El Calafate and drive to your hotel, taking in your first views of this town on Lago Argentino near the Laguna Nimez nature reserve. Stroll down the main street with its cafes and restaurants. Try the region's specialty Calafate jam made from local blue berries. There's an optional visit to a Patagonian ranch where an Argentinian cowboy can share stories about gaucho traditions, their distinctive Boina hat, and bombilla mate tea.

El Calafate
You'll head out to Los Glaciares National Park to see Moreno Glacier, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. From different viewing platforms, you can watch the ice formations break apart and calve into the lake below. The day includes a short boat tour that takes you closer to the glacier so you can really feel the scale and power of it all. You'll spend time at various spots along the walkways, each giving you different angles of the ice and the surrounding landscape.

You'll arrive at this harbor town on the Fjord of Last Hope where cosy cafes, restaurants, and outdoor stores line the streets, giving you time to explore or just relax.

Puerto Natales to Punta Arenas
Travel 260 km from Puerto Natales to Punta Arenas where proud mansions reflect the era of sheep farming and merchant barons. Check out the Nao Victoria Museum on the Strait of Magellan banks where guides bring the age of discovery to life with replicas of Portuguese circumnavigator ships. Walk through town to the cemetery and learn about the Braun family's history. That evening, board your cruise ship and toast as your adventure to the end of the world begins.

Ainsworth Bay
At dawn the ship sails through Almirantazgo Sound to Ainsworth Bay and the Marinelli Glacier. After disembarking, you'll hike through southern beech forest, see a beaver dam, and possibly spot an elephant seal colony on the beach. Later, zoom out in inflatable boats to Tucker Island to watch its seabird colony.

You'll hear the cracking and crunching of ice formations as you take a guided hike to a viewpoint. Return to the ship for a cruise through the Avenue of Glaciers, a truly impressive route.

Cape Horn and Wulaia Bay
Today brings adventure and legend at Cape Horn. Weather permitting, Zodiac boats take you to the rocky island in Cabo de Hornos National Park where a small chapel and inhabited lighthouse mark the end of the world. High on the cliffs sits an albatross memorial for drowned sailors. Afternoon brings you ashore in Wulaia Bay, site of a large Yamana settlement, where you'll hike through Magellanic jungle to a viewpoint.
